Mallory Monroe ....... I'm struggling with the words.
I've read the two Tommy Gabrini books and now Sal's. The characters are fresh, well crafted, fully realized people that I fell in love with. The fact that we meet tough, alphas who are vulnerable in love is brilliant. That is because they do what they have to in spite of the women they love .... because of the women they love. You are truly a gifted story teller. With that said, I would like to share something about reading romance novels. I started young like most of the author bios I have read. Because of writers like you young girls are going to have examples they can emulate. I read exclusively about, blondes, red-heads and brunettes with, blue, gray and green eyes. They always had pale, creamy skin. But, I somehow managed to imagine my caramel skin with nappy brown hair and eyes that appear black because they don't reflect enough light to give detail, in every freaking character. The benefits of my imagination were many. This lower middle-class kid from Spanish Harlem wrote well enough to get into college on scholarships. I joined the military and unless someone asked or I volunteered no one could figure out where I grew up. I was never ashamed of my origins. It made me, strong, street-smart and tough.Granted my New Yorican comes out with my family and friends. But I know the difference. The ONLY thing that gave me pause in any of the books was the way people spoke. As if the only audience for the books was one who didn't speak better. I felt myself get caught up with every grammatical error. All of the characters spoke the same way and that was sad because you went to so much effort to create such wonderful people.I learned a while back, I don't have to write for the lowest common denominator. Readers, movie goers people who buy music will always gravitate to what is good. Bruno Mars has a huge fan base not dependent on race but on the songs he puts out that are well written.I'm not saying the characters shouldn't sound real. But if you put someone in a boardroom, they need to sound like they can hold their own there. I kept going back and saying, "They didn't just say that in a business meeting".I love your work but unfortunately I won't read more because I can't believe that no one in the world of the Gabrinis speaks better than what you've written. Sorry.

... of years at first I thought that i wouldn't like sal gabrini since he is always presenting him self ...
Well what can i say i had this book sitting on my kindle for a couple of years at first I thought that i wouldn't like sal gabrini since he is always presenting him self to be so rude and arrogant so once i finally read the book it feels like i have finally gotten to know Sal gabrini a whole lot better. At first he just seems like that he was just known has Tommy brother and always been in his shadows but once I got to know him i just realize that he is his own person and he is more than tommy brother. So now after finally getting to know Sal it he seems like he is was just a tough person that you I never thought that he would be a kind person but that was until Gemma Jones came into his life. But to me honestly that is the kind of women that Sal needs in his life somebody that wasn't going to put up with his mess nor his non sense he needed somebody that strong and that could be able to handle him he doesn't need a grace type that is more for Tommy since he is the Romantic type guy but speaking of Tommy i know see why him and grace had gotten a divorce in a first place because before they had gotten married they were having a lot of issued that wasn't solved in the first place i think that is where they honestly went wrong. But as for Sal i am glad that he had those deep conversation with Gemma about racism because most people thought that he was just races or a jerk but this book i can honestly say is where you got to know who is Sal Gabrini.

Sal and Gemma; love at its best!
Sal is the man! He is sexy, confident, bold, dangerous and boss...Gemma is the perfect woman for him. She knows when to call him on his bs, when to let him lead and when to soothe and give him a lot of love.Sal needs a lot of love. His rejection from his mother and father has caused Sal to be doubtful of his self worth to a woman. Even though he has a loving bond with his brother Tommy; he is not the one Tommy confides in. Reno is. I think Sal feels like he is always on the outskirts in relationships with the people he loves. Like he can only reach a certain level of acceptance. Therefore, Sal tries to hide his hopefulness of finding someone to see the real him and love him unconditionally with a lot of bs. Gem saw through Sal's bs. She saw the honest, honorable, loyal and loving man Sal was. A man hiding behind a lot of pain from not being accepted as he was. Because Gemma was feeling some of the same in her life. The wonderful thing about Sal and Gemma's romance is that it was more real. They laughed, argued, made love, walked away from each other, cried and reconnected with each other. In this book, Gemma and Sal set down strong foundation to build their love upon.

Hot, Hot, Hot
I'm new to this genre (BWWM) and I'm not african american, but I am a black woman.I loved how well-developed the characters were, and since this is my first book, by this author I realised reading this book that it would be helpful for me to read the other books in the series to fully get a grip of the characters.I loved Gemma and her strong, no nonsense personalty, but also her willingness to give into Sal.I'm glad the issue of race was addressed, because so far in this genre I've found it's not been touched upon, and it's not realistic to expect there to be no discussions on this subject. The reason I didn't give the book 5 stars because there were far too many uses of colloquialisms that I don't think suit Sals' character. e.g "He didn't play that" I mean, c'mon I find it hard to believe that this would be an Italian American's speech formation.I also found Sal to be a little too domineering for my tastes and the him starting a fight just to proove he's a man was kinda crass. It left me turned off by him.Aside form that I did like this book a lot.

Not believable....
I know...I know... these books/stories are supposed to be a bit of escapism but I at least want to believe that it could (in my wildest fantasies) happen... if I was really lucky or hit my head hard enough lol.I was really looking forward to reading about the hard around the edges Sal Gabrini but he written like a stereotypical ‘New York’ I-talian complete with cotton wool in his cheeks....Also on what planet would you get a kick-azz lawyer co-owning and working when she can in a clothing boutique on the side....it wouldn’t happen. I know she had to fit Trina in somewhere but this really didn't work for me.

Sal and Gem the journey begins
Love the Gabrini men, so Sal is a tough character to understand. His relationship with Gem is hesitate at first but builds into love. Henna is independent and demands respect, so they are two strong willed individuals who can't keep away from each other. I watch to see how the long distance romance pans out.
