This book is a wonderful 'dictionary' of health issues and symptoms and what can be done about them, homeopathically, in order that you may have a better quality of life or even be well. Dr. Joel Wallach and his wife, Ma Lan are a mind store of information to put into practice in your life in order to stop going from doctor to doctor for answers, only to spend a lot of your finances, yet have no answers. I love a book which gives you easy and real and useable answers without pharmaceuticals and this one does, as well as her and husband's Rare Earth's; Forbidden Cures. Dr. Wallach's book, Dead Doctors Don't Lie is a foundational book and the first one I read. It was astounding to learn that my scoliosis was caused by a simple mineral depletion in my mother while I was in the womb, and other hidden knowledge and aneurysms are due to a copper deficiency for example. Since our soils are so depleted of minerals from overuse and chemicals, this book and their others are a MUST if you are to regain or keep your health. Allopathic doctors, although well-meaning, do not have these things taught to them in med school and these authors fill in a lot of the blanks in the medical field. You also get a very informative CD with this book, also, making it a really good purchase.

(The star rating I gave is not a true rating because of this)I would love to do a book review on Amazon but where is the easy to find list of “all region DVD's?” that could listed with in the "Movies & TV" Category.I would love to buy WKRP in Cincinnati, but that only comes as region 1, I live in region 4, I am sick of trying to hunt down all region DVD players because the there is so many great DVD sold by Amazon when comes to New Zealand (NZ) they will not play in a DVD made for NZ. I am sick of all the DVD's I got from Amazon that will not play in a NZ sold DVD player.My aim here is if Amazon had a list of “all region” easy to find DVD's it hopefully might boost their sales to country’s other than USA only DVD region, then DVD software manufacturers might see the logic and realize that some of this old software is not such a hot selling item in region 1 they could just make 1 run to start with of and make it a “all region” DVD's and have it able to be sold all over the world. A boost to amazon.com sales. Some of the old TV series is not worth making just for a few people in say my region but it is better entertainment than the crapp entertainment software they shove on free to air TV today in NZ . More & more of just about every program now uses the most universally over used 4 letter word starting F ending in K and contains the letters SEE & YOU, I am sure amazon.com has far better entertainment software to be sold as “all region” DVD if only they market it. Then I will come back and write all my book reviews.

My wife and I bought this book as a backup and a reference source to "Dead Doctors Don't Lie" and "Let's Play Doctor" by the same authors. The maladies and medical conditions covered are very similar in all three books. In "Let's Play Herbal Doctor" this infomation is found in Part 4 called "Home Herbal: Materia Medica". But what makes this book different is Parts 1,2,3 and 5: "The History of Herbal Medicine"; "Growing, Harvesting, Selecting, Storage and Processing of Herbs', "How Do Herbs Work?" and "Guide to Medicinal Plants" (a comprehensive survey of remarkable plants in alphabetical order extending 240+ pasges). References pertinent to this exceptional work is given in Part 6. The book is well indexed. If you're interested in the authors' background and the trials they went through, I would recommend the first 200 pages of "Dead Doctors Don't Lie".

Having owned a health food store in the 1970's and 80's I learned a lot more about herbs and Dr. Ma Lan, with her background in research and medicine gives us excellent advice and help in her book. I use it weekly to look up answers to many questions and needs of our families. Health problems are listed and answers found in alphabetical order. Using this with total nutrition is an excellent way to solve many of your problems. And the cost is much less than the co-pay at the Dr,s office.

Very useful book for an herbalist. If you like finding the right plant for the right job, this book will certainly help you choose the right plant. Tells you what compounds are found in the plant, how to prepare it, what dosage to use, etc.
