No More Dropped Chains
Like most cyclists with double or triple chainrings I occasionally shift too quickly up front, at too high a cadence, and drop the chain to the inside (on some setups not so occasionally). It always seems to happen at the worst possible time. This little 11 gram device prevents that. I have not dropped the chain since installing. It also allows you to back the FD inner limit screw off a tiny bit more for snappier downshifts. Having the attachment screw on the fang itself slims down the profile and saves a gram or two at the expense of making the installation ever so slightly more difficult. Maybe a hex head screw would be slightly easier to access than the included Phillips head, but no big deal.

Fit my need with a small modification
I’m running a 52/34 ring set on the bike which I use on my smart trainer so on occasion it will drop the chain off the small ring. Another reviewer wasn’t happy with where the screw ends up which makes it very hard to tighten because of the down tube. He’s right! The manufacturer needs to replace the silly flat/phillips headed screw with an Allen or Torx head which is what I did. This made tightening the screw easy peezy. If you don’t have that type of screw available, just hit the hardware store for a 4mm .8 screw with an Allen or Torx head

Poor Design, Did Not Work
Got this style item based on the recommendation of bike mechanic. Seems simple enough. Tighten one screw to hold the device to the seat tube after you align the "fang" relative to the chain/inner chainring. The problem is the location of the screw. It is really bad because 1) it will cause the device to rotate as it tightens which throws off the distance to the chain/chainring thereby wasting all the time you spent carefully aligning it and 2) the orientation of said screw makes it impossible to get a regular screwdriver properly aligned to the screw head because the screw is facing the down tube. The screw should be moved 90 degrees CCW so you could easily access it from non-chainring side of the bike. (-2 stars)Was able to work around the bad engineering with my macgyver skills, but the rest of the stars were stripped when it failed twice during a weeklong bike trip. So it completely failed at the one task it needed to do. As to why it failed, I am not sure. Maybe I didn't get it aligned just right as a result of trying to tighten the badly located screw. Or maybe I didn't get it tight enough (as a result of the poorly placed screw and it rotated.) Either way, the result was the same. It didn't do what it was supposed to do.Look for something better designed.
