I had to try a few times before I got the nail knot to work properly, but wow what a versatile knot. After a few times and practice I feel confident in this knot and the ease of tying it. The clippers are a nice bonus and works well. I did not like the accessory to hold the tool on my vest. It has a clip on the back that I do not trust. Overall great.

Works well, wish it had instructions, but instructions are easy to find online

As most fisherman know, a nail knot is an essential yet not necessarily easy knot to tie merely with one's fingers. Enter this tool. While there are a great many cheap metal nail knot tools out there, I was intrigued by the seemingly more robust aluminim design. The tool seemed well designed...with one flaw. The cut-out opening at the business end of the tool was left razor sharp and kept cutting my backing line each time I tied a knot. Furthermore, this sharp-edged slot was a bit smaller than the cheaper steel variants, making it a bit challenging to pass float line back through the opening after pre-wrapping the backer line. The solutuon: I commandeered my wife's nail file to blunt the sharp edges while widening the slot. Et voila, it worka like a champ. And since it's aluminum, I can leave it hanging out of my vest without fear of it rusting. Overall, very nice kit and the nippers (which also included a deployable nail knot tool!) and the retractable tool reel were a nice added touch. Fully recommend, since "field mods" mentioned above were quick and easy.

The nail knot tool works very well. I was adding a lanyard to a ~1/4 metal shaft piece on something and the size and design of this tool allowed me to use it for this unusual situation quite reasonably. The nippers and retracted are OK, nothing special.

I use it often helps tying a good nail knot

This nail knotter tool is a knockoff of the Orvis tool. However, it works just as well as the Orvis version at less cost. The nippers are almost useless but OK for a backup. I gave it 5 stars because I was only after the nail knotter.

Nice little set to get started with. Makes tying nail knots a lot easier

Knot tying is easier and more repeatable with this product. The clippers work well with 10lb. monofilament which is the only line that I have used it on.
