Hoping they are gonna grow
So far I have been trying to grow these for the past month and nothing yet. I tried planting them inside and now they are in my garden. So I will update in a few weeks!

Fun to learn how to grow Hibiscus from seeds.
We had a very nasty and rare hard freeze here in the south this past winter, it killed off everything in our back yard and all the nurseries and big box stores that sell plants were having a hard time keeping up with demand. They didn't have Hibiscus, so I figured I'd try this! Never grown Hibiscus from seeds before, I've always bought them as plants. I enjoyed learning about the process. I got a Jiffy Seed starter kit from Home Depot, a thermostat warming pad and a grow light. I followed the directions on the seed starter kit, did a little reading on the internet - and gave it a shot. Most of the seeds germinated and grew into seedlings and just planted them in the garden. After just about 2 months they are ~2 feet tall. It's clear from looking at the leaves that there are several different varieties represented. They are not easy to grow, the seedlings are very fragile and take some tending - which we did enjoy. Very happy with the purchase, would buy again and would recommend. If you haven't grown hibiscus before - definitely worth reading up or watching some videos on them first.

Marsh Hibiscus
When I received my order I was a little concerned. They did not look like any other hibiscus seeds I used. When it sprouted and started growing the leaves were a different that all my other hibiscus plants. I was so sure I was scammed. However, I was curious and wanted to know what these plants were so I continued to take care of them.To my surprise, they are hibiscus plants. There are about 35 species of hibiscus native to the U.S. This variety is called the marsh hibiscus and they generally grow in wetlands.Just give them lots of love, nutrients and water and they will not disappoint. Mine did not start blooming until late July through August, so you will have to wait.

Successful growth
I started a test batch of 10 seeds and they all germinated. I was late to the spring start due to a move and did mot soak. I started them in Miracle Grow potting soil in June in Zone B. They received sun for about 8 hours a day and were kept moist with nitrogen fertilizer applied every 2 weeks. After about a week there were sprouts and after two months they were nearly a foot tall and repotted.
