A very timely book for these times
This book talks about what is the most important aspect of my life in my opinion. To develop my loving nature, as God is love and if we are to become Gods as the Bible says, then we must become loving. This book helps open the door for us to grow in love. Thanks to the author for writing it, I have been looking for a book like this for a long time. It spoke clearly to me of things I know in my heart are true.

A Book every Minister should own!
As an ordained Minister with Universal Life Church I respect all religions and believe this book belongs with all the Holy Books written from beginning of time. As a student of theology, psychology and parapsychology I see God’s truth within these pages.

Two alternatives: bewilderment, or recognition
"Welcome, reader, for the third time."That phrase appears in books published decades before this one, in the English translations promulgated by the Agni Yoga Society after the First World War, making public the teaching from Nicholas and Helena Roerich. N. K. Roerich died in the 1940's, his widow Helena (Yelena Ivanovna) died in the following decade. Agni Yoga is one name for this system of teaching and philosophy; another name is Living Ethics, a label translated directly from the Roerich's native Russian (they escaped during the Bolshevik uprising).Zinovia Vasilievna Dushkova was born, in Moldova, about the time that Helena Roerich died in India. Mme. Dushkova has only recently been publishing English translations of her books; in her native Russian language, she has published scores of titles over the decades. For an English-speaking audience of readers, there is a historical precedent alongside the claims of "secret", "esoteric", "hidden," and so on. That precedent was set by The Secret Doctrine, published over a century ago, under the name H. P. Blavatsky, herself a Russian emigre. The Blavatsky publication, through her Theosophical Society, was possibly the first to present to the West the word "dzyan," supposedly a word from Tibetan, meaning precisely "secret," "esoteric," "hidden." Blavatsky claimed that her two-volume Secret Doctrine was an attempt to translate, with commentary, from Tibetan into English, the opening of a book centuries old. She made no secret of the fact that hers was an unfinished work, that the mysterious Book of Dzyan was longer still and would require more books to cover the rest of its stanzas. It is Madame Dushkova's claim that this present title, her Book of Secret Wisdom, is nothing less than a continuation from the Tibetan Book of Dzyan. So she takes upon herself the role of successor to Yelena Ivanovna Roerich, herself an ardent admirer and student of Blavatsky's career and writings.Blavatsky's career, in exile in India and the West, left a sensational trail of scandal and calumny, along with those books of hers which have remained in print against all odds. Madame Roerich admired Blavatsky sincerely, but wished to evade the scandal and calumny if possible; although there was indeed controversy and bad press about the Roerichs, their joint writings and publications stayed largely out of the public eye. Madame Dushkova's book, if it is true to this interesting and controversial literary tradition, is going to get mud flung at it, and will be burned along with the juvenile fiction by J. K. Rowling which has been so successful in recent years. The same people who object to Blavatsky, Rowling, and the Roerichs, are going to resist Madame Dushkova down to their last ounce of strength. In between those who repudiate and reject this "secret wisdom" heritage, and those whose positive response has an emotional, beyond-rational thrill of recognition, will be many readers who feel stranded, high and dry. They are polarized neither towards the positive nor the negative, and are mostly in ignorance: and who can blame them? Books like this don't turn up every day. That said, Dushkova's Book of Secret Wisdom, in its careful and thorough reworking in English, may serve, and serve well, to introduce the ignorant, open-minded, open-hearted reader to a cosmology and way of life that is new and unfamiliar. The English-language glossary is longer than the Dzyan-translation itself; and this glossary may be employed to come to grips, not only with Dushkova's books, but with those of Blavatsky and the Roerichs before her.

Worth the Journey
I am in the midst of enjoying this book. As another reviewer mentioned, it was very difficult to get started as I had no idea what was going on, and I felt like I walked into the middle of someone else's conversation or perhaps missed a book I should have read first. (A note to the author, a little background of what one is reading would be helpful.) But I perservered because reading the words were comforting, even if I didn't completely understand them. So.. I read only small bits at a time when I felt the need to be comforted.During this time, I read other books, too, and then something happened - when I would read a book then come back to this one, it was oddly coincidental that I would read about similar topics. For example, while reading a book by Neville Goddard (who also confuses me a little with his style of speech) he was talking about faith and I was trying to learn how to strengthen my faith. Then I went to this book for comfort and a page later, I came upon a passage on faith. There are more coincidences that occurred, too many to bore you with, but suffice it to say now I find this book fascinating. I hold onto passages like, "faith and confidence are two exceedingly powerful magnets, with the power to attract the elements necessary for the realization of a right desire." She also taught about the "Fiery White Core," which she says is a crystal situated in the heart of every living being, which sounds very esoteric and I took it to mean as a spiritual energy (or supernatural). But she went on to explain how these may become true crystals, some of which are taken from the ashes of cremated high lamas and other spiritual teachers. I then learned about the Buddhist relics that can be found on display around the world, and that is exactly what they claim - that these crystals are taken from the ashes of high teachers and that "normal" humans do not leave these crystals behind! Anyway, lots to learn and I am enjoying it more each time I read it. The author even mentions to pay attention to only what resonates with your heart, which is what I am doing. When I come to passages that feel are too "out there," I simply read through and keep going. I will read it again and again, possibly for the rest of my life. It is truly fascinating and I feel like she is a gifted translator (of antiquity) and teacher.

A philosophical approach to spirituality...not truth
This is more of a collection of philosophical ‘ideas/concepts/teachings’ that have been around for ages rather than a genuine teaching of awakening...re-hashed material that isn’t helpful to the genuine seeker. There is no mention of the simple recognition of awareness and being which is the real process of self realisation...instead it’s just another jumble of ascended this that and the other, master of this ray and that ray....all outdated teachings from long ago. This type of teaching fosters spiritual beliefs and spiritual identity/ego instead of guiding the recipient to be relaxed awareness connecting with what you absolutely and honestly know to be true. If you’re genuinely searching for real answers as to whoyou are then these sources are a good place to start: Jon Bernie ‘The unbelievable happiness of what is’, Gangaji, John deReuter, Adyashanti, Krishnamurti...sent my copy back.
