NutrafinCarbonate and General Hardness Test Kit for Aquarium

In setting up a new freshwater planted aquarium, I needed to know and track my water quality parameters closely to make sure everything is establishing correctly. I had a very old GH test from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals that no longer worked so I needed to replace it. I initially bought the Elos GH test kit thinking it would be a "win-win" -- new test kit that uses non-toxic reagents. But it didn't work. Frustrated, I asked other people in an online aquarium forum which GH test kit they used. They recommended the Nutrafin kit. And guess what? THIS KIT WORKS. Bonus: It's easy to distinguish the color change that this kit uses; that isn't the case with many GH test kits (I'm looking at you, AP!). Definitely worth the money spent, because I now have a handle on how often I need to change my tank's water, and how much of my GH additive to use each time. Save yourself time and money: if you need a GH test kit, get this one.

This one works! The API Aquarium Pharmaceutical GH & KH kits I've used don't. Results are easy to see.

Two tests can be performed on your water with this kit. Nice explanation of the results and how this will affect fish in an aquarium tank. Basic titration test.

I got this recently to test my KH/GH for my shrimp tanks. It was easy to use and understand. Would buy this again in the future.

pity the bottles are not bigger

I used this to test hardness of water we have. I had test strips for pools/spas/fish tank but those only tell you if your hardness is between 200-400ppm and 400-600ppm etc. This narrows the percision down to +/-20ppm which is great!Easy to use. Instruction is simple to follow. I've went through 4 tests and the solution still have about 2/3 in them. Good value.

It’s easy to use and simple. Only reason I’m not giving it a 5 stars is because it’s not necessarily as accurate like other test kits. Other than that, good product.

The vial is really annoying to use because the lid isn’t actually a lid. Also disappointed that there was only one vial provided. Most other test kits give you multiple if there are multiple tests
