Surprisingly good. Mild nutty flavor, no bitter aftertaste. Pleasant, enjoyable healthy snack.
Surprisingly good. Mild nutty flavor, no bitter aftertaste. Pleasant, enjoyable healthy snack. It's a seed but does not taste like a cashew. More like a very mild peanut, or a walnut without the bitter walnut aftertaste.

These nuts are amazing!!
Love baru nuts!! They are super nutritious and have a great crunch. At first, the taste is a little different, and it might take a few tries to really like them. But once you get used to them, you don't stop snacking! They are packed with protein, fiber, and antioxidants, so they make a healthy, guilt-free snack.Definitely worth trying out!

A Unique and Tasty New Snack
An interesting new snack! Baru nuts (although actually technically seeds) are known for some pretty powerful anti-inflammatory effects, and for lowering cholesterol, as well as a whole range of other great health benefits. These little treasures are grown on Baruzeiro trees which grow exclusively in Cerrado- a little-known savannah region in Brazil. This region is under threat of deforestation due to the introduction of cultivated monocrops, which have caused a lot of harm to the local ecosystem.Baruzeiro trees are not cultivated however, as their deep tap roots make it so that no irrigation is required, while providing structural support for the soil. They also have the ability to transform atmospheric N2 into a plant-available form of nitrogen by forming a symbiosis with specific types of bacteria in the ground, producing their own fertilizer!Hence, once a year these nuts are foraged and wild harvested, providing an important factor in the environmental integrity of the Cerrado region. They are also just loaded with antioxidants and important trace minerals and considered by some to be a 'superfood'. They taste a bit like a peanut/almond/cashew combination. Some people report a hint of cocoa to the flavor, but I did not catch that myself. They are super dense and oily, and really unlike any other nuts that I have ever had. It was fun trying something new, and my two kiddos just love them, which is a major plus.

Cheaper than whole foods in our area
We are trying different types of nuts and found this one in the local whole foods market. Although whole foods market is owned by Amazon, they don't price match for the exact same item from their own parent company so we ended up ordering it online from Amazon. This is a waste of time and several resources including but not limited to box, fuel, and manpower to deliver it to our home! The nuts themselves are tasty and would buy again.

Fine
These used to be decidedly cheaper than the other brands for sale. Since my purchase, the price has almost doubled. They are as good as the other nuts, but not better, so buy the cheaper option.

Wild nuts
I first tried Baru nuts around 5 years ago and was immediately hooked. They’re wild tree nuts from Brazil that taste like what you’d get if almonds and peanuts had a baby, but they aren’t related to almonds or peanuts. I believe Baru nuts are also higher in micronutrients than cultivated nuts, and they’re higher in protein and fiber and lower in fat than other types of nuts. They’re delicious on salads and in homemade trail mixes. I personally like to mix them with dried goji berries, mulberries, cacao nibs, and sea salt for a portable, nutrient-dense snack when traveling through a food desert or food swamp. I’m so glad that the Whole Foods 365 brand sells these Baru nuts. I just wish they had them in bulk-sized bags!

Addicted!
I use baru nuts in EVERYTHING! For someone who is plant based but has some digestive issues with certain nuts, these are a must. High in fiber and protein and tastes better than ANY other nut or seed. I even blend these in coffee and make nut milks out of it using water dates sea salt & vanilla extract
