From the Manufacturer Axis & Allies Europe

Great Educational Toy
I have now played this game a few times and the observations are those from seeing how games play out.The game brings together all the elements when war becomes the answer. There are air, ground and naval forces; there are manufacturing capabilities; there are transportation issues....all of which must be mastered to implement your strategy. One overriding feature is the manufacturing plants and industrial production certificates. One learns pretty quickly why Germany could fight on so many fronts with such vigor for so long. They were a massive industrial economy. You also see how Russia can absorb such losses and keep coming back. For the player that has studied these major campaigns...air war over England/Europe, naval battles in the Atlantic/Med, North Africa and land forces in Eastern Europe trying to improve on the real outcomes is challenging.Strategic issue that is hard to deal with is the game's lack of a way to bring Allied troops into North Africa from the Red Sea. British forces are quickly dispatched by the Germans, if desired, and no reinforcements can reach them except through the Med. This forces the use of Russian troops in the Middle East more then was actually used to secure oil fields for the allies.Another strategic issue is the lack of weapons development, as in the WW II game. I did not miss this and found it to be a nice change where the various countries worked on building military forces without this distraction. When only dealing in one major theatre the lack of this element is not an issue.Small details to work with: as others have mentioned the game is short of playing pieces for some types. It is particularly short for the German infantry. Since I have other games, I have just pulled a few German infantry to use in this game. The size of the playing board gets cramped when lots of units begin piling up in Europe and England. The ability to group fleets of ships and troop transports also gets a little crowded as the forces engaged increase in size. Both of these situations, would be improved by having the markers used in the WW II game.I continue to find out how difficult it is to bring American forces to bear on the enemy when they all must be built/trained in th US and shipped/flown across a hostile Atlantic Ocean. Whoever is the American player is continously challenged by this factor. It frequently seems that fighting is left to the Brits and Russians while America is still building up.Overall, a fun game that requires lots of concentration and the time element is based on the skill and number of players. But the design allows for easy breaks in the action and one can come back to the board several days later and pick up where they left off. Gives some context to those dry history books. Recommended for all WW II buffs and military history folks.

Fun, though dated
This is a great game, though by now a little dated. If you've played any of the newer games you'll miss some of the extra pieces and rules, but it is a very fun game to play. It is very possible for either side to win, a good balance - though as Germany you can feel the tension of the gang-ups. Great fun if you have the time.

An incredible experience...
We love all tge Axis and Allies games, but this one is the best by far! We play for hours. As anyone who's played these games knows, the directions can be somewhat tedious. However, if you take the time to truly understand and follow the directions, the game is incredible! You learn history and the art of strategic planning.

Good Extension
Having played the original A & A, would love to have different theatrical scenarios of WWII being played out as separate individual campaigns
