CrossTread 81450 Truck Rack Renegade Xt

Bought this for my husband's work truck. Researched ladder racks that would fit over, under and accommodate the hard tahoe cover. Found the Cross Tread Renegade XT to be what I was looking for all around. Even called the company to see how they were as far as customer service, they were really good. Found it cheaper on Amazon, free shipping too! Received it right on schedule. Installed it per the instructions, adjusted to bars out as far as we could for a tighter more secure fit. It looks great, does not make any sounds when driving. Nice quality finish, adds a good look to the truck while being very usefull!

I bought it for my 2013 Ram with ram box. Worked great. You just need to flip brackets, predrill and then install.

I purchased this from eBay instead of Amazon because of the $50 cost difference and both had free shipping. I did not see it noted anywhere on either site or the many truck part vendors that this was a bolt on with drilling required. To be honest, I didn't mind that much. I have a brand new 2016 Silverado and I still didn't mind drilling holes in it; however, I would recommend the extra kit to install it in the bed rail stake pockets to anyone with a newer truck that has the factory installed plastic rail caps. The top of the rails are thinner metal now and the way the beds are designed, you can't place it at the edge of the cab anyhow. For me, I didn't buy them because I figured if I ever removed the rack, I'd just replace the rail caps at that time and the cost would be the same. Now that I've installed it, I would use the kit. I also put mine at the back of the truck bed as shown in the picture, but this rack extends 10' max (I saw it stated as 11' somewhere, but that is not the case... it can, but not per the instructions). With 10' and a standard bed, on my truck the rack only goes mid way over my crew cab. Using the kit, it would extend over the cab more, which is better if you plan to carry 16' or greater length lumber or pipes so they don't hung off the back of the truck so much.If you have an truck before they started factory installing the rail caps, just bolt it on.As far as build quality, it is very good. There is no way this thing could fold like another review stated. It is thick steel pipe. Very strong.Also, buy a tube of clear 35 year silicone exterior grade caulk.

Horrible design. Does not fit most trucks. Got delivered in one large box with all the hardware loose inside (missing parts due to hole in box). I would not put more than 400 lbs on it. If I did put 1,000 lbs on it ( as advertised) it would fold like a lawn chair. Save your money and get a rack that specifically fits your truck. Don't waste your time with this scam!
