The Portal Thieves (The Portal Wars Saga Book 3) Kindle Edition

I purchased the first four books of this series (The Portal Wars Saga) based on existing reviews and have read all of them. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I didn't find anything likeable about the main characters. Each one just seems to be out for their own interests (though vaguely disguised as "it's for the good of everyone") with little to no development. Supporting characters are introduced to further a specific part of the plot within a specific book and then discarded when they're no longer of use with little to no additional background or character development for them. Meanwhile, the main plot steamrolls along with little, if any, twists or turns. The books are easy to read, but that's mainly because there is little substance to the story. I would not recommend this series.

It was neat experiencing the story from different characters and seeing more people play a role in Otto's success. I think it would've been interesting to see more out of Lord Karonin and the storage vaults. There's a lot of opportunity there for depth as far as the magic system and its possibilities go. Looking forward to seeing where the next book leads.

This installment was done in two parts: half of it was Otto teleporting around, being unstoppable, while the other half was a mini-collection of short stories about a bunch of spies doing infiltration missions. I could have done with more of the first and less of the second. Still though, good read. 4/5 from me.

I probably skipped close to a 3rd of this book as it was just "filler". That would seem to be the biggest problem this author has. He adds unnecessary characters and mini missions that could be done in a chapter or two instead of five to ten. Especially when he has five of them running back to back.

I love the characters and the story. I just wish he would tell the King and his father in law about his cheating/insane wife and at a minimum divorce her. He needs to get away from that crazy Bit#@!

A fun book to read. Very sneaky but rewording for the mc. Part of his dream is being reached. But family wise his life is not progressing. All ambition for power and release of magic users.

One of the most enjoyable fantasy series that I have ever read.The pacing and character development are perfect.I read this latest "episode" in one night.

Another great book in Great series. I am binge reading the entire series and haven’t gotten bored yet. Love how magic is used and how the characters are developing

Perhaps I have been brought up on good SF previously. Bit basic.

Die erste 2 Titeln waren net für leichtes lesen. In dem 3 ten Teil -Portal Thieves- steigt sich die Brutalität soweit, daßich keine Lust habe weiterzulesen. Ich möchte etwas leichteres kurz vor dem Schlafen lesen.

Good old fantasy with a touch of psycho and slaughter and deception. Nice reading that you suck up without even realising it 👍🏻
