Another Great One
I just love the dialog in Sanford’s books. Blitzed through all 32 Prey books and the 12 Flowers books. Searching for more. Or maybe start the Prey series again. Try them. you’ll like them.

LOTS of ACTION
John Sandford is always good. You will not fall asleep while reading this book! There is a bit of Gore near the end, but you have to expect that.

Gotta Love “That F’ing Flowers!”
From Davenport to Flowers and now Letty, its hard not to get wrapped up in the characters and the plot lines. I’ve read every Prey novel and all of the Virgil Flowers novels. Love them all. Read the first Letty Davenport novel and love it too.

Good read as are all of the Virgil Flowers Books
No complaints about this book. Sadly Sandford seems to have abandoned Virgil Flowers and is focusing on Letty Davenport. IAs a Sandford reader of long-standing, I was sick of Letty and her supposed brilliance long ago. I wish Sandford would ditch her and get back to interesting writing.

#12- the last known flowers book
Sandford/Camp writes engaging novels, I was in the car with him in White Bear Lake and at the U as well as over parts of the Cities. Fine entertainment, better than the NFL wild card games I just turned off to finish this book.

This is what we need !
Whatever the reason might be - at least in my point of view the Flowers series of Sandford's books is currently much more enjoyable than the Davenport series. OK, the author is starting to commit the same mistake again, first he killed Davenport with Weather, now he's gonna kill Flowers with Frankie and the inevitable household chores ... but that may or may not be the case in one of the next books. Here we still have a more or less independend actor and a really well written storry. I must admit that even close to the end of the book I wasn't entirely sure if I knew who the culprit was ... and I certainly didn't have the slightest idea how the author would manage to connect all the lines. At one point I was close to checking if this was somehow only the first part or something. But it all connects and I'm grateful that the book is entirely without contradictions and stupid mistakes (if we forgive that a modern Benz SUV is described to top out at 110mph, I mean, please ...). So it was an enjoyable read, interesting and "developed" characters, nice dialogue (Can I call you Long for short ?), all the hallmarks of a book made by somebody who knows how. Can't wait for the next one, although with those twins coming I suppose we'll soon need the 3rd youngster on the job.

If You are a fan of that Effing Flowers, You will like this...
... 12th book with him, too. But let me warn You - nothing in the short description of the book is really counting with the mystery itself.OK, there is a University and there have been differences between two departments, but to call those different ideological points of view a feud - I would not go that far.Fact is, a very famous Professor of Medical Research is killed at midnight in the University Library where he had a second office. What he did there at that time, with whom he was - the readers know a bit more than the Investigators. His very pricey laptop and his keys have disappeared. But his wallet is still with him, so a mugging gone wrong is early excluded. Virgil "the Effing" Flowers is called away from his happy farming life and his fiancee heavily pregnant with twins, to help the hapless Police Forces. They have reached the end of their investigation without any progress. There are no obvious suspects, no real motive and even the follow-the-money routine comes out with nothing, sooner or later. 2 and a half ex-wives and one daughter, but nothing really suspicious stands out. The daughter is living the student's dream with two male friends, pizza, weed, alcohol and ciggies, but didn't know her father very well. Virgil finds himself with a lot of secondary leads, but nothing really comes around. He and the local Police are along the way solving unrelated crimes, but a real thriller is something else. This is a pure police investigation which takes its time. At one point the author even gave the killer away with a tiny slip that did not pass me by. I only missed a real motive. So the searching and snooping goes on, other people are harmed, till the breakthrough finally arrives in a brainstorming between Virgil and his Missus. Who by the way is a real high-IQ genius herself. A trap is set, doesn't go too well. But the showdown finally arrives and with a whopping-mad stormtroopers help the culprit is finally stopped...As I said, a thriller this in not. A police investigation with ramifications in all directions is the best way to describe it. John Sandford lets Virgil do what Virgil does best - snooping. Even a cowboy needs a bit of calm sometimes. There is a hunt on, yes. But it is a relatively calm hunt, if You think of some of Virgil's eleven earlier adventures. It is a good read, was really worth MY time. But a bit slow, I must admit. But even 4**** Stars aren't bad. So I look forward to see The Effing Flowers again, better sooner than later...

As good as ever.
Virgil Flowers is great company and spending time with him again was an absolute pleasure. The plot here is a simple one and in lesser hands, may have struggled to keep readers engaged. As is usually the case with a Flowers novel, suspects are paraded in front of you, inviting you to peg them for the crime. I’m happy to leave the detecting to Flowers. Sandford never cheats you on the players. Regardless of how pivotal a role any given character may have, they are all given the full spotlight treatment and if that is not enough, the dialogue will have you grinning like a Cheshire Cat. If this novel were a meal in a restaurant, I’d leave a handsome tip.
