This kit allowed me to convert my old weed whacker (SRM-210) to use a blade. The kit has the parts to convert many machines, so I’m left with lots of extra parts. Looking at the replacement guard vs the original it’s obvious a replacement guard should be required as included in the kit. That’s fine and fair.Conversion is semi-permanent in that it’s a little onerous to do and requires using an alternative guard whose geometry is only really useful for a blade. If you want to go back to a string trimmer, the original guard will need to be used.I’d like to see this kit sold with a universal guard that would allow quicker conversion back and forth. It would also be nice to have a minimalist kit that has no blade or harness.

Works. Fits. Cuts field grasses that stall string lines. Worked on small brush.

Echo no longer supplies a METAL shield with this kit. Just plastic. Description of kit is WRONG!

Easy to install and works very well on small brush.

It works for slightly above what a normal string trimmer can cut but not by much. I had higher hopes for it but was kinda disappointed. It’s not a bad product, just don’t expect it to power through the big stuff.

I love my echo products and this is not a knock on the seller this is a knock on the product itself.This is like Apple trying to monopolize everything about their product. You have to take your shield off in order to put the shield that is acceptable for a blade and they give you a c*** blade. But every time you want to switch back to your regular head you have to change your shield again because they don't even provide a cutter on the shield for trimming the string! The handle, what a pointless piece of s***. Just long enough to always be in the way and not long enough to get any use out of it. If I ever decide to convert an echo to a brush blade 100% I will never use that handle.The only reason you have to buy the kit is because they make sure you have to buy the kit to use the right fittings and to have a shield.Thus echo is making consumers want to use their product without a shield making it more dangerous and possibly more likely to incur a lawsuit. The only way this product is useful is if you plan to convert an echo to a brush blade 100% of the time otherwise you are wasting your time and money.Summary... Echo makes the best weed eater out there but completely failed with this idea. We simply need our echo weed eaters to come with a guard that works with both the brush blade and string trimming. Or the brush blade kit should come with the string cutter so you don't have to change the shield every time.

Bought this to clear heavy grass and brush. Works great. Wish I had bought this sooner.
