Legendary Visions: The Art of Genzoman

To be honest, I bought this book on a whim from Amazon's recommendations. Thank goodness I did. This book is chock full of 200 pages of fantastic art courtesy of Genzoman, who is not only a fantastic artist, but one who is in high demand in the gaming industry for his designs.The subject matter of the material presented is mythical and legendary characters from throughout history, done in the arist's style, which resembles very closely the anime/manga style of the east. Angels, Vampires, Gods, Demons, Pirates, Samurai - they are all present and accounted for. Many of the interpretations are interesting to say the least, all are done to the highest quality. I literally paged through the book several times before writing this review.The only disappointing thing was after receiving the book, I looked the artist up online and discovered that he has so much material dealing with Legendary and Historical figures that he could of easily doubled the size of this volume. Here's hoping for Volume 2!

As a long time fan of Genzoman's work, I was eager to purchase this collection of his mythological themed art, and was not disappointed in the least. It is a lot of fun seeing his interpretation of various legendary characters, and while not all of them may accurately reflect what the originators of these myths had in mind, they are gorgeous and creative. The little blurbs accompanying each picture, briefly describing the origin of each figure shown, are interesting and, while not overly detailed, provide enough background to further research any of the mythological characters you are particularly interested in on your own. While most (if not all) of the art presented in the book is available to be viewed online at the artist's DeviantArt page, actually having high quality prints of these fantastic pieces is well worth the price.As other reviewers have already mentioned, the biggest flaw in this book is the presentation itself. The pieces are not organized in any discernible way, making it difficult to find a specific picture, and the binding is sub par. Both of these are rather a shame, as neither is likely the fault of the artist, whose work in this book is top notch. Here's hoping a followup collection is forthcoming, with a little higher physical quality.

I love this book! Angels, Vampires, Japanese Warriors and Gods, Greek gods, and more! And even my favorite myths are in it, too! I have been a fan of Genzoman's work for a long time. I've seen his wonderful work. He did a great job!

I have always wanted to see Genzoman's art in printed high quality form and at last Udon has delivered. Each of the 200+ pages contained 1 full image of each piece that he has done (which fall within Legendary or historical figures), and a short description of the story behind the characters of legend, myth, or biblical story. It's a very nice representation, with some art not appearing in his gallery!What I wished though was if each character was organized by either country or legend of origin (for example all greek heroes organized into 1 section). It's a minor nitpick of course. Oh, and a tutorial on one of the pieces (or several) would've been nice, but there are some out there already (such as 1 in Vent).The binding for this book however, seems a bit weak and flimsy. Do be careful when turning the pages. The pages are glossy and think, so no fear of easily tearing them (it's similar to the stock used in Vent).All in all great art, great book!Highly recommended if you love this artist's work!

I was really looking forward to this book.The art itself is great. It't detailed, colorful, and imaginative. But the book itself is clearly used or at least kept in poor conditions. The spine is worn and scratched. There is a single hole in the back like someone tried to use a hole punch and failed so the cut it pit with scissors and tape. So the inside of the book is great. The outside is very disappointing.

Spine or glue of the paperback is weak. Already started to fall apart.

This artist is immensely popular on the DeviantArt website and his works are nothing short of legendary. Mythical and historical figures and creatures, fan art, original art, there is nothing that this man cannot do and there is no style more distinct. Though it is anime-styled, when fans see it they recognize it right away and know immediately whose art it is. If you enjoy great art and interesting styles, then Legendary Visions is the art book you want on your shelf!

The artwork itself is really good and shows a lot of talent, the actual book though is crap, 1/4 of a way through my first read and it had started to fall apart and by the time I got to the end, it was barely holding together. All in all your better off not spending your money on a book that won't​ even hold together to read it once.

Al principio pensé que el libro fuese mas pequeño, pero me sorprendí al ver que estaba mas grande de lo esperado.Las ilustraciones son magnificas, el artista es conocido por ser ilustrador de creaturas fantásticas y mitológicas.El único pero que le hallo al libro, es de que hubiese sido mejor que fuese de pasta gruesa, ya que no puedo abrirlo completamente por temor a que se despeguen las hojas.En resumen...un gran libro de arte para coleccionar, anexo unas fotos que hablan por si solas.Compra 101% recomendada.

Un hermoso libro con increíbles imágenes (y son muchas lo cual sólo lo hace mejor)Le doy cinco estrellas sólo por esto, peeeeero desafortunadamente, al ser un libro grueso, el pegamento del empastado cede fácilmente, así que no lo puedes abrir mucho. Algo que se hubiese arreglado con pasta dura, y por el precio eso hubiera sido justo.Aún así Genzoman es uno de mis artistas favoritos y este libro sólo lo confirma

I was aware of Gonzalo O Arias artwork on DA so I knew the art would be nothing less than beautiful. This is a nice thick book and I wish it was available in hardback because my book came dented at the corner. The paper is not too thin and the colors are vibrant.Much of the character art is from Judaism, Greek, and Japanese mythology. I wish it included more of other countries and surprisingly excluded some major characters I thought would make it into this volume like Monkey King or Mulan from China or even pegasus and the unicorn. What isn't lacking are numerous pirates and mermaids. Not unlike art of this genre, most of the female characters are scantily clad, partially nude vixens. It may not be appropriate for smaller children. Each character has it's own short description and the layout makes it easy to read. I recommend this book to anyone who likes digital art or mythology.**After flipping through each page of this book the pages have detached from the spine. Bad choice of binding for this thick book. I recommend waiting for a reprint (different binding)**
