Dearborn (MI) (Images of America)

So I did not purchase it here but wanted to give it 5 stars. I was born and raised in Dearborn and books like these bring back the memories. Well done and worth the bucks.

Bought this for my mother for Christmas, as she grew up in Dearborn. Oh my gosh, did she love it. It really took her for a lovely stroll down memory lane--many pictures and descriptions of things she remembered from growing up there between the late 30s into the early 60's. In fact, she loved it so much that she had me order 3 more copies to share with her siblings and best friend from high school.

Taking this to my Dad who is 88yrs old. Born in Dearborn back in the days.

I thought the book was comprehensive and gave a crisp but easy to follow narrative of Dearborn from its beginning to the present day. The pictures were most helpful in making the presentation very meaningful..

Bought this book for hubby. A friend recommended it to me cause her hubby has the book. What a great purchase. He looks at it all the time and you can't beat the Amazon price!

This book chronicles the history of Dearborn from its earliest settlement to the present day. Each chapter begins with a brief essay followed by photographs that tell the story of this community. It is clear that the images were skillfully selected; for many of them, a picture is truly worth a thousand words. I think my personal favorite (though it is hard to choose) is a photograph of farmers washing their sheep in the river before shearing them, as opposed to washing the wool afterwards. That is just one of the many wonderful images presented in this book. Along with the pictures, the writing is very clear and provides the needed background to understand the story told by the photos. All in all, this is a wonderful publication, and even those (like me) who are not natives of Dearborn will find plenty of interest within this short book.
