A very sharp ready to use knife.
I liked the blade size. I was not very pleased with the shape of the handle, too large for the size of my hand. A good value for the cost. Toolmanship excellent.

Product came in very good condition with a sharp edge and for the price it’s far better than I would have expected it to be. Also I appreciate the fact that it came with a hand-written note!

Good Feel - Rough Cutting Edge
This tool is a good one for the money. Only the edge kept me from giving it a 5 star. I had to clean up the cutting edge and resharpen it but I expected that after reading some of the reviews.Yes, I would buy it again.

Extremely poor quality
Rarely do I leave reviews but this particular carving knife was of extremely poor quality and I would caution others to look else where before considering a purchase. The blade did not hold up under normal use.

Definitely needs sharpening
Out of the box it could cut, but not well. I spent about 30 to 40 minutes sharpening and honing the edge, and by the end of it it served pretty decently. The handle is okay, but not great.

Great hook knife
Comfortable to hold and work with. The steel is excellent and holds an edge well.The ash handle is solid and a generous size but not too large.The knife came well sharpened. It is important to use any hook knife well sharpened. I use a dowel rod with very fine grit (1000) sandpaper to sharpen and then follow that up with honing compound applied to a separate 3/4 in dowel rod. Beginners should look at the many books or websites that explain how to use a hook knife.One thing that I and some of my woodworking buddies do with hook knives is to blunt the very tip since for our purposes that tip is never used.All in all a very good hook knife at a very reasonable price.
