TopsTops Steno Books, 6" x 9", Gregg Rule, Green Tint Paper, 80 Sheets, 12 Pack (8021)

They put a note saying that although they have a different name on the cover but that it really is a TOPS spiral steno book. Absolute BS. I have been using the TOPS brand forever. I was a secretary for years and I used them for shorthand. I used the original TOPS brand in my Gregg shorthand high school classes in the 70's. Needless to say I know what I am talking about. I also wanted the white and they sent me the green which I hate. I decided to keep them but I will not buy these again.NEW UPDATE: I received an email from the company and they apologized and admitted that it was their mistake and offered me a full refund. They also said that they are removing the fake steno books off of their shelves. Clearly their supplier was not honest with them. I thanked them for their offer but did not take the refund and decided to keep the steno books. This company knew how to handle a mistake in a courteous and professional manner. Because of their customer service, I decided to bump them from 1 star to 4 stars and I will buy from them again. Mistakes happen and anytime a business admits they made a mistake and apologizes and does whatever they can to remedy the situation is a great business. My father ran a small business and always told me that the customer is #1 and that the customer is always right. He was very well respected and successful.

When I ran out of paper in my old steno pad I tried to find a replacement, but I couldn't remember what kind I had bought. I got these because they seemed good enough (even though there are no perforations, which is a big bummer since I pull out my notes and organize them when I get home). After they came, I was thinking they looked a little flimsy but started second-guessing myself, thinking I was being overly nostalgic for the original. Then I found my old steno pad and confirmed that the differences were actually significant.First, the original pad has a very firm back, and this one is super flimsy. In the first photo, I'm holding the original on top and you can see that this one just flops down underneath while the original one stays flat. Second, the pages are super thin. You can see the comparison in the second and third photos. I wrote "This is written with a black ballpoint pen" on the page underneath so you can see how easy it is to see through this thin paper, especially compared to the original. Finally, the spiral is very tight on these. When the spiral gets bent the tiniest bit, the pages are going to start getting stuck and then tearing at the corner like cheap drugstore notebooks, especially since the paper is so thin (and there are no perforations!).These are definitely not built to last, but unfortunately now I have twelve of them. I ordered more of the originals directly from the manufacturer because I couldn't find them on Amazon, and I will probably give these to my niece and nephew for scribbles.

These are just regular steno pad type notebooks, but I find them so useful that I buy them by the dozen and always have one handy when a new use pops up. I have used them to make doctor's notes when I didn't trust myself to remember details. I have used them for notes on daily child care when I was in the business, finding parents really appreciated a "blow by blow" accounting of their baby's day. I use them for jotting down recipes from various sources, until such time as I can type them into the computer. I compose poetry from time to time and find these are just the right size for my rough drafts. I use them as prayer notebooks, one for each person I keep in daily prayers...writing my prayers as letters to Jesus, or making it a diary with prayer needs on left, answers to prayer on the right. They are also great for making grocery lists or organizing your household chores. If you have these laying around, I know you, too, will find many ways in which to utilize them.

Good quality construction.

One of the things about being a lefty is that normal spiral pads don't work too well. I use steno pads for taking notes and have been doing so since forever. Suddenly there were no steno pads to be had at work. They stopped ordering them. "Use a regular notepad" they say. For shame. So I ordered a pack of these. They are exact same brand and type that work used to order. Price is good. Paper is the right quality, what more is there to like?

Love these note pads. I got 12 delivered for less than $10. The green tint is just a tint. Not loud or dark. I don’t really notice it when I write on the paper. Paper is good quality. Not too thin at all.

I love these for making lists. I love lists. It makes me feel like I actually have my life together. I don't, but it gives the appearance. Good quality and pen doesn't bleed through.

Now this was a grest value. I use steno pads as my daily diary of activities. Usually pretty expensive. Got pads for what I would normally pay for 3 or 4.

As expected. The air pillows were mostly collapsed in the shipment, but the notebooks were cello wrapped so no damage done to product. Will buy again.
