Great music, inconvenient binding
The music itself is great. 153 pieces, all 6 volumes are combined here. Ideal to learn classical piano from because it starts at a very easy level and gets quite difficult by the later pieces but never unreasonably so. Great tool for those studying composition as well because there is such a broad variety of language taught here including classical/baroque, folk dances, impressionism, and a variety of tasteful atonal approaches in the context of actual musical phrasing. Includes about 33 exercises written by Bartok himself that drill some of the hand movements in the pieces.I don't like the binding. It probably would have been nicer to have this spiral bound. But a bigger problem I have is there are dozens of consecutive pieces that are 2-pages long that start on the right hand side and require a page flip! This is a pretty bothersome hassle - an extra blank page would have prevented a lot of needless page flips. I should say, however, that the quality of the binding itself is good enough, even if it's quite inconvenient and awkward. But back to the content, this is written by a world class pianist for teaching his own son and students, so very practical! This is no theoretical exercise; these pieces were mostly written during or between piano lessons to provide easy ways to isolate and practice certain techniques. The music is incredibly spirited, so it's not boring to practice from. The only thing it doesn't really contain is a lot of the more florid technique that would be required to play music such as Scriabin. Otherwise, I can wholeheartedly recommend to pianists and composers alike.

Beautiful font. Horrible binding
All in one book. Very good. Beautiful font too. Horrible binding. Must use big binders to keep the page folded and stay put.

Awful layout
Almost every single piece in the volume is two pages. However some genius has decided to set the layout so that each one contains a page turn rather than falling neatly across a two page spread.Clearly no thought whatsoever has gone into this as a performing/studying edition.Somewhat useful to have it all in one cheap volume but you get what you pay for - avoid.

it's a great purchase and resource for future studies
A complete set of the mikrokosmos by Bartok with clear notation and printing. Only thing was that there was a crease on the back cover. Otherwise, it's a great purchase and resource for future studies

Erratas.
