An Unexpected, New Recruit to Task Force X
In this second volume to John Ostrander's ground-breaking revival of the Suicide Squad, Lashina of the Female Furies from the planet Apokolips, joins Task Force X after surviving an explosion from the first volume which causes her to receive amnesia. And that Batman discovers about the black-ops unit of using super-villains for US government purposes and plans to make sure that it's revealed to the public, but Amanda Waller has a contingency plan for that.

Vintage Bronze Age
Suicide Squad delivers with an entertaining mix of political commentary and comic book heroics. While the idea of villains as protagonists is old hat, it wasn't when this debuted and it stands the test of time.

The Dark Knight, Doom Patrol, JLA & More!!!
The first volume kind of surprised me with just how awesome, intriguing & down the earth the series was but volume 2 has officially made Ostrander's SS run as one favorite comics of all time. It's clever, surprisingly funny at times & ties in the DC Universe in an exciting new way with a fresh perspective. I already pre-ordered volumes 3 & 4 & I would highly recommend anyone even remotely interested in this comic or the upcoming movie to give this series a read ASAP!!!

The end of Blood and Snow Part Two cuts off abruptly after eight pages, and the first seventeen pages of Collision Course are missing too.

More of Suicide Squad's Epic First First Run
This volume collects another large chunk (almost 300 pages) of Suicide Squads first historic run. All originally cover dated 1988 in contains Sucide Squad #9 - #16 , Justice Legue International #13 , The Doom Patrol/Suicide Squad #1 and the Nightshade story from Secret Origins #28. It is on slick glossy paper with a stiff cardboard cover.John Ostrander writes all the regular issues and Luke McDonnell does the art on the same issues. While I once considered McDonnell's style to be a little bland, in retrospect I have come to better appreciate his clean, but traditional style. All the original covers are also included with most are done by Jerry Bingham are quite nice. My favorite is the cover of Suicide Squad #10 with Amanda Waller pushing Batman up against the wall.Suicide Squad #9 starts out with a Millennium crossover so it's not the best opening for the collection. A little introductory synopsis would have helped. Once you figure out the players this is a pretty good story which guest stars Mark Shaw , the Privateer and future Manhunter. We also get the death of an important character.Suicide Squad #10 is an excellent kind of in between missions story. As good as Ostrander was with the Espionage and the Political Intrigue this is what I like best when he does a lot of character development. Ostrander spends time introducing a couple of new supporting characters , the Reverend and Murph as well furthering some established subplots.Next comes the double sized Doom Patrol / Suicide Squad Special. The art is some early work by Savage Dragon's Erik Larson. Ostrander only plots and Paul Kupperberg does the scripting. Kupperberg scripting does little for me and making Rick Flag the only Squad regular makes this story a little dull.Suicide Squad #11 and #12 is a two parter "Blood and Snow" about Cocaine exportation from Columbia. It features new players Speedy and Vixen to the team.Next we get another two parter which starts in Justice League International #13 and ends in Suicide Squad #13. Both teams go back to Russia to break Nemisis out. The JLI issue is from writer JM DeMatteis and penciler Keith Giffen.Next week get the Nightshade origin from Secret Origin #38. Suicide Squad editor Robert Greenberger and Rob Liefield pencils. This is a nice little prequel to the three part "Nightshade Odyssey which close out the volume from Suicide Squad #14 to #16. While most of Ostander stories take place in a gritty politicaly charged world this is a fun departure by exploring this wild fantasy world of Nightshade's origin.Just a clarification Amazon's listing says the book is 264 pages, but it is actually is 296 pages. All though we get a contents page with the start of each story correctly numbered , none of the pages actually have numbers on them. This is a my small pet peeve.Volume #3 of this classic series has already been announced , and you can look for my review in a few months. I am excited to read more. Meanwhile, this volume comes Highly Recommended.

managing to make taut espionage thrillers out of super hero clichés
Some classic comics, that still read well. A much darker read than I expected, managing to make taut espionage thrillers out of super hero clichés.

Outro clássico!
E a coleção desta maravilhosa série continua. Espero que a DC publique todos os 66 números de Suicide Squad em encadernados assim. Com certeza vou comprar todos.
