The ThinkPad series has a solid reputation for good reason.
The Lenovo T480 is a well-reviewed workhorse of a business-grade laptop. There is no shortage of articles or YouTube videos citing its merits and its weaknesses. The ThinkPad series is renown for its excellent keyboard, solid build quality, the nub (people love it), and for being an overall joy to use. Lenovo is criticized for its display technology and for not using high resolution or high nit display panels in arguably all of their laptops. I agree with that to an extent, but for my purposes it's fine. This is my first Lenovo laptop and my first Windows laptop, but far from my first experience using Windows. I purchased this to test websites (I design and build websites for a living) across browsers. In doing so, I wanted to own an actual Windows device to more efficiently test websites running on actual hardware -- and stop with the slowness of running Windows in a virtual machine or by other means.I've had this laptop for several days and used it with heavy frequency for at least a couple of days. This consisted of browser testing, playing video, and general web browsing. In the time spent so far, I don't have any complaints. The screen resolution could be higher and yes, the display could be brighter, however, everything it tech has its tradeoffs and I'm okay with these. I will try editing photos on this display and see if I'm still okay with the screen. However, if I am underwhelmed, I won't be surprised, given its specifications for having lackluster color coverage.I purchased this laptop with 16gb of RAM, thinking that I will likely upgrade it myself in the future. So, the upgradeability of this model was highly compelling to me in today's age when more and more laptops are becoming soldered disposable sadness. I want to use a laptop for as long as possible and being able to upgrade its components myself is a big purchase consideration. So far, so good. I will update my review if things change.

My favorite workhorse - best keyboard in the business
This seller Oemgenuine, are the market leaders in upgrading popular laptops to the specs the manufacturer never offered in chasing that dollar dollar.I need to say out the gate that I purchased a 72Whr battery (also from Amazon) that I swapped in when I received this unit, making 96Whr total with the built in 24Whr battery - with this smooth i5 Quad-Core processor I'm consistently getting over 15 hours of battery life, sometimes going over 20 hours! (99Whr maximum to take any device on commercial flight )Alas this is why I am buying this laptop in 2020, the hot-swappable battery! Lenovo calls it the "Bridge Battery System" and Lenovo no longer offers this in any of their new laptops, like Apple they are cutting off their ties with their Pro users! You have all the ports you need from USB 3.0, USB C, Ethernet, and HDMI.Lovely matte IPS FHD display.Comes with 65W USB C charge cable in the box.Business and privacy friendly:Finger print scanner that works perfectly with Windows Hello.Camera has Physical privacy shutter - softkey to block mic.Highly highly highly recommend to anyone who needs a sturdy dependable laptop with amazing battery life. Not for those who require Pro-power for editing raw 4k video or serious multi-layer AutoCAD files, for everyone else you are golden, and you can always upgrade the RAM in the future up to 64G and upgrade/replace the storage as well, so it is pretty future proof.

Great price but some quality issues
I buy from OEMGenuine a lot and the prices are great, but recently I've seen some quality issues. I don't know if the issue is with Lenovo or OEMGenuine. I've had to send half the machines I bought from OEMGenuine in the last month to Lenovo for repair under warranty. One with a bad drive, and the rest refuse to charge the batteries. It's kind of annoying. I'm giving them 4 stars because I don't know if the problem is with their upgrades or if Lenovo is having manufacturing issues.

Great Laptop, Super Keyboard, Flawless so far
I've been using this laptop for about 3 weeks. Setup was easy. I was up and running straightforwardly. So far I'm really liking it.I have had great luck with the ThinkPad brand all the way back to before Lenovo owned it. I've typically been stuck with the laptops supplied from my employer, but this time I was able to select my own. On a laptop, there are some things you can change and some things you can't change. Usually, you can't/don't change the keyboard, the display, the size, the weight, the CPU, the GPU, battery-life, or the ports. Some lighter/thinner models lock down the memory and storage too. Assuming the CPU/GPU/battery/ports meet your needs, and that the system otherwise runs reliably, the Keyboard/Display/Size/Weight define how you experience the system. For me, those personal features are what makes this laptop great. For the keyboard, typing is great. I'm consistently typing 50+ wpm and find the keys where my fingers expect them and find the feedback to be much better than the Dell/HP/Mac laptops I've had since my last ThinkPad. I'm a track point user in preference to the touch pad, but didn't find the Dell/HP "track points" to be usable. On this laptop the track point is good. I sometimes need a FHD display, though when I'm using the laptop standalone I usually magnify it a bit (125%), but when using an external display I can get all my screens to at least 1920x1080 which is awesome. The size and weight are light enough for me to carry all day, but large enough to allow memory and storage upgrades. In particular, I like that I could select a configuration option that allowed me to choose an i5 processor but configure larger memory and storage. My daily work includes running Virtual Machines so extra memory and storage is useful. The mobile i5 on this model is almost as fast as the mobile i7 from a couple years ago, so its fast enough and I've saved a few bucks. I'm also happy to have the fingerprint reader, a fairly small charging block w/ a USB-C plug, and a wired network interface. So far, its seems to have the modern features one would expect (like bluetooth). I don't stress the camera or audio and can't give an informed review for these features. That being said, I think the built in speakers work OK, but won't provide a premium audio experience that some other laptops advertise.Looks-wise, the T480 fits well in any business setting but doesn't turn heads. I also considered a prior generation Lenovo X1 Carbon which looks cool and has a thin bezel around the screen, but decided this T480 to be a better balanced value for my personal needs.
