The media could not be loaded. I just installed these spikes where swallows had nested. We waited until the babies left the nest and then immediately removed the old one (what a mess). Swallows will return to the same spot every year, and this mother swallow was back within 24 hours after removal of the nest. I immediately cleaned up what she had just started and quickly put some of these spikes together. We installed them, and I attached a video that I hope plays in which the mother swallow is flying all around the spikes. She is clearly not happy with the situation, and she's returned many times, but never landing. I think she's getting the message that this spot is no longer ideal. I'll update this review as I obtain more information, but for now, it seems that these spikes did the trick. In terms of assembly, you will need to put them together as the metal spikes are packaged separately from the metal plates. It's pretty easy, however, just a little thumb strength. The spikes are pretty long, say 5 inches or so, and both the spikes and plate are well-made and sturdy. We installed them with thumb tacks. At present, I give this product my highest review.

These actually work, although lots of assembly required

We had birds nesting in window trim around our front porch and of course they left their nasty deposits all over below their nest. Put these Bird Spikes in and bye-bye birdie. No more nests, no more mess and the installation was easy too. Very pleased with this nice solution.

I'm surrounded by birds. Some got in my bathroom vent creating a mess on the side of my house and in the vent tube to the bath fan. I installed fan cages to prevent further intrusion and I installed these in corners, on my gutter downspouts and anywhere else to prevent bird from nesting on my house in the future.

They are very monotonous to assemble. They are strong and durable. There is some flex which is good. I would not hesitate in recommending this product. The deer tore down part of my garden netting and helped them self to my garden. I hung the extra I had on the netting and the deer never came back. Oh yeah, they work for birds also. LOL.

These bird spikes are worth every penny. They are just the right size and can be cut to fit. Worked right out the box. No more nesting birds under my deck and no more sitting birds above my screen door. Best product out there.

This item does not keep squirrels away. We have actually seen the squirrels jump over the spikes. Since it took so long to put these together we are going to just absorb the loss. Again this is a bad product. Do not buy.
