I used to regularly dine at a small Mexican Food restaurant chain in South Florida called Taco Viva.Eventually it was bought out by another taco chain with a similar name.Taco Viva was known for its sauces, there was Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot, El Scorcho, Jalapeño, and Enchilada Sauce.El Scorcho was known for its unbelievable heat, and the Enchilada Sauce was known for its great robust flavor.For 30 years, I have searched for the taste that made Taco Viva's Enchilada Sauce so wonderful.When I purchased this Harissa Chili Paste as an ingredient for Shakshuka, I had no idea it would turn out to be the key missing ingredient to recreate Taco Viva's Enchilada Sauce.It's very, very flavorful, and not too spicy.It seems to have an almost fruity flavor, but earthy at the same time with a touch of heat.If anyone reading this remembers Taco Viva, and enjoyed the Enchilada Sauce; then try this paste!I know this review sounds silly, and that's ok.Try this paste, you'll be glad you did!

I love harissa. If you aren't familiar with the flavor, what comes through for me is red peppers (not terribly hot ones), garlic, and cumin. Most commercial harissa options have added ascorbic acid, which for me ruins the flavor. This one doesn't. It genuinely tastes homemade, and adds to the flavor of all kinds of things. I especially like it with roast chicken, scrambled or fried eggs. I throw the tube in my bag when going out for breakfast, and we'll just about any other meal, I'm afraid. I love a dab of it on a hard boiled egg as a snack. Okay, I'm ridiculously in love with this stuff. It gets me through trying to eat more healthily as a little flavor bomb on bland low calorie foods. Highly recommended.

A lot of tune harissa i found in grocery stores and elsewhere had too much liquid - this was exactly what i was looking for, as it was more pasty and had the depth of flavor i was looking for. I use this on avocado toast - highly recommended

Fried an onion in my best olive oil with a smashed, sliced clove of garlic, added a couple of chopped fresh tomatoes from the garden, stewed for a few minutes, added some thawed frozen cooked shrimp and a generous squeeze of harissa, topped with chopped fresh parley. Served with pasta for a quick family meal. The smoky warmth of the chili and background of cumin set off the tomato/shrimp combination perfectly. Everything in the harissa is organic and the packaging is beautiful.

This does not taste like the homemade harissa I've had. That said, it does taste awesome. At first taste I wasn't super excited, as it starts out like a good chili powder in paste form. But the flavor is more complex and develops after a second. A little bit spicy but not too much, probably a 🔥2 out of 5. Excellent in lots of dishes, but so far my favorite uses are adding it to homemade pimento cheese and to grilled cheese made on jalapeno cheddar bread.

all around a win, good flavor, decent heat, and has the often underlooked texture that harissa should. reminds me of the one made by an old favorite lunch spot. I'll be keeping a tube around from now on.

I have only one recipe that calls for Harissa, and I could never find it in stores where I am. I've always substituted Sriracha - but this is way better! This thick paste has a little more heat (that builds more) and adds maybe a touch of smokiness. As it comes in a little tube, I didn't feel like anything was going to go to waste if I wasn't impressed. Very happy with the purchase and satisfied with the price.

Bought this after a recommendation. Discovered it in my fridge and started adding it in dribs and drabs to various recipes and OMG, now I don't know what I will do without it. Time to re-order a case so that I am never again stuck eating bland one dimensional ANYTHING.
