My 3 year old is obsessed
Wow, this is my child's favorite toy ever. We try to quit after 20 minutes, but at her insistance we've played for two hours straight. She sleeps with one of the cards under her pillow and wakes up wanting to play it again. It's insane. Being 3, I can't believe how focused she is when she plays the game. She studies the 9 pictures on her card and intently watches the tiles to be drawn so she can grab them quickly. I like that it's fast paced. She's doesn't like Candyland or Chutes and Ladders yet. I think it's because she gets bored of taking turns and counting (which she's still learning) and she doesn't quite understand the rules. With Zingo everyone plays at once and the rules are really simple. A child can actually play this game as well as an adult once they get a little practice. I think that makes it fun for the adult because you can enjoy playing the game and not have to worry about "letting" the child win. They can win without your help and know that they did it on their own. There are duplicate tiles of all the pictures which is nice because the child doesn't get frustrated when someone grabs the tile they need first. They know that another one will eventually come up. Another plus is that the game won't be ruined if you happen to lose a tile or two.My only complaints....- The tiles don't go back into the dispenser through the little slots well. You really have to jam them into the slits to get them to go through. We just pile the discarded tiles up and have to take the time to get them all facing the right way before reloading the dispenser through the large opening.- This is trivial, but I'm tired of the pictures already (maybe because we play it so much!). I wish they had more cards you could purchase. I know they have one to practice counting, but we're not ready for that yet. More cards to expand on vocabulary would be great though.- Also trivial, but some of the pictures are on the cards much more than others. For example, many of the cards have a heart or a star, but very few have a tree or an owl. It just means that when the tiles are revealed you discard lots of trees and owls and they end up feeling like wasted fillers.

Bingo fun for a young family
Zingo is bingo and "snap" together in one. Each player is given a card with 9 pictures on it. A dealer slides a mechanism and two tiles pop out of a plastic box. The first individual to match the tiles to their card claims the appropriate tile. Play continues until someone covers the entire card or creates a previous agreed upon pattern (four corners, three in a row, etc.)Durability: the tiles are a hard plastic, the dealing mechanism is also a hard plastic with no tiny mechanical parts. I expect these to last a long time. The cards are roughly 5X7 and are a thick cardboard, so as long as they are not exposed to liquid, should be fine for years to come. The only thing is that the tiles need a little bit of a strong push to be placed back in their holder. This could be an issue for younger kids; however I don't expect any breakage due to the extra force that is needed.Level: this is for young kids. Our oldest of four kids is 6, and he loves to play this game. However, his younger brother, who is only 2 1/2, caught on quickly to the concept and was able to start matching tiles to his card within 2-3 rounds of the game.Time: The games can be completely fairly quickly. We finished games anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes. This is good with the young kids because they like clearing their cards and starting over.Educational: This game can help with matching, recognition, memory and, eventually, word recognition (each picture, whether it is on the card or the tile, also has a word underneath it.)Price: Best price was on Amazon that I could find.Overall: A fun, family-friendly game for young players. Wouldn't recommend for anyone older than 10 (and that is pushing it a little bit). Box and pieces are sturdy. If taken care of it, it will last a long time.

THE favorite Christmas present
I completely underestimated how much my daughter would love this game. I saw a similar game on a lightning deal before Christmas, but it looked a little advanced. So I took a chance on Zingo because it was so highly rated both on Amazon and by other mommy bloggers that I follow. I was not disappointed. My 3 1/2 year old LOVES this game. We've played it at least twice a day every day since Christmas. We've taken it to Nana's house to play. We've taken it to the neighbor's house to play. Sometimes, I'll find her in the living room with her stuffed animals spread out playing it with them. What I love about this game is how simple it is, both in concept and construction. The cards, "dealer" and tiles are all very sturdy. I also love that it is a game our whole family can enjoy. Her father and I are big board game people, so it's fun to find a game we all share. And it's a game that can grow with her. As a bonus, she's learning to read some of the words on the tiles. I've already told my husband this is going to be our stock present that we give to every kid in our lives that is part of the preschool crowd. Buy it for your kid or a kid in your life...you won't be disappointed.
