Great Product, Great Company. Put this on your list.
Overall Impressions: The hold is best described as "malleable tacky" as it can be easily reshaped like a traditional petroleum based pomade but has the lightness of a water based product. The smell is traditional, almost like a mix of musk and old spice. The scent is not overpowering and does not fade throughout the day. The product has an initial matte finish that becomes more and more shiny through out the day, especially after multiple combings. It does not stain pillow cases (which my wife loves). Two washings is required to completely remove the product.Application: I have shorter hair so I simply towel dry. The product scoops easily and I have found that application is best after rubbing it between the palms until translucent. Overall I use around nickle size portion a little at a time (a little goes a long way). The product is light in the hair and has a very slight "comb pull".Hold/Durability: Surprisingly, the initial hold is strong while adding volume. The first time I used the product, I was sure I'd have to constantly comb my hair to retain the shape. This was not the case. The hold was great and required minimal care. I did, however, comb often the second day to see how it impacted the hold. My hair retained the general shape but did lose some volume while increasing in shine. I have naturally oily hair so this was a result of my natural hair oils mixing with the product. Because I have oily hair, I do not allow product to build between washings. I did skip a shower and restyled my hair and added new product. It worked well enough that I would feel confident going to work if I was pressed for time and needed to skip a morning shower.Winter Test: I spent the day exploring a local downtown with my family. It was snowing heavily and I was not wearing a hat. My hair was exposed to a constant snow/melt/snow/melt cycle for the better part of an hour. My hair held up well and did not require more than a simple combing.Special Note: This company donates $1 for each product sold to zerocancer.org, an organization dedicated to ending prostate cancer. I really admire small businesses who are willing to help others. Keep up the good work guys.

Great Pomade
Update: My favorite pomade, period. Love the scent, hold, and shine. Not sure what kind of shampoos others are using but this comes off my hair with one good lathering, 2 max; and that's only if I allow too many days and applications to go by between washes. Considering this contains good natural wax, oils, and butters (which make it work as well as it does), it cannot be expected to just slide right off the hair with no effort.Only applied a few times over the last 3 days but I already feel like this is my favorite pomade ever. The ingredients alone make it a stand-out. Good, natural substances in a clever blend that seems to provide good hold while helping to keep hair soft. I have thick, mildly coarse, and sort of stubborn African American hair and with other pomades, I've had to apply a lot of my natural moisturizing blend to keep it from feeling weird (like the hair itself is somehow dry but has a layer of greasy goop on it). THIS seems to require less help keeping my hair soft. Might even forego a separate moisturizer after my next wash and see how that pans out. Scent is pleasant; present but not overpowering.

Good natural-ingredient packed pomade
I've always been the type to try different pomades to see what's out there and really find out which is the best for my thicker, wavy hair. I tend to picky in picking and (especially) keeping pomades as many I've tried are either far too weak or, due to the ingredients in them, give me a headache shortly after applying to my hair.Battle Born's Pomade stood out for me largely due to the ingredients they use, as while it's water soluble, it's very oil based and seems to have little artificial ingredients. I've been using it for the past week roughly, and here's what I've found out.1) It's stronger than nearly all other pomades I've used. Many I've had, as I've mentioned, have been week but this starts to thicken and stick soon after you've applied it. It has a very smooth texture that becomes tacky the more you work it through. At first I thought this would make it difficult to rework just in case I needed to touch it up or reshape later in the day, but it's still surprisingly flexible after adding just a touch of water.2) Because of how strong it is, you have to us very little. I may use about half of this compared to other pomades, making it easy to make the supply last longer.3) It has a very natural, matte finish to it, which I enjoy given I tend to go for a more "natural" look. If you're looking for shiny finish, I may look elsewhere.4) While I like the pomade as a whole, it can be a bit difficult to fully get it out of your hair. I tend to use just conditioner one day, and then shampoo + conditioner the following day which largely works fine, but you may still feel like you have a small amount left over. Having said that, my hair does feel softer and smoother after showering even if I don't get it all, so I personally don't mind the "leftover" feeeling. If you're looking for a pomade that is strong, has a natural look, and ingredients that aren't jam packed of ingredients most of us cannot pronounce, I believe Battle Born's is worth a shot.
