Smoking Kills - So does this silly movie!
We don't speak Hindi, but this movie was hilarious. About a third of the movie is in English, either sentences or a few words strung together. It's like anyone who speaks 2 languages, but is better in one than the other, so you substitute English words for ones you aren't sure of. It makes for some hilarious misunderstandings, and trying to figure things out is a blast. Film-making is amazingly good and corny as heck. The movie starts with 4 or 5 PSAs warning against smoking. However, in the movie, the main character is constantly smoking and no one approves. So generally a side-arm is brought into play to alleviate any complaints. And anytime a lit cigarette is in the shot, a subtitle "Smoking Kills" pops up in the corner of the screen. Hilarious. Lots of action, hot babes, irrational storyline, unapproved smoking, this film has it all!

Great action picked film
The movie struggled in the beginning in my opinion, but grace grabbed my attention the second the action pickedup. I'm a huge fan of both Akshay and John, so this movie was right up my alley. Couldn't take my eyes off the screen for not even a second.

Steroids & protein shake
Charles Bronson said bodybuilders are weak actors. John Abraham is a case in point. His boyish charm in Dostana (2008) has been traded for drone-like machismo, with a corresponding increase in muscle mass. Just like Salman Khan, he's followed the Stallone-Schwarzenegger ethos of the uncompromising, indestructible police/military hard man with no need for personality. Some scenes are blatantly copied from '90s American flicks, such as fixing a popped shoulder joint by slamming against a wall (Mel Gibson, Lethal weapon), or aiming a gun at a wardrobe to bring out his wife's secret lover (Bruce Willis, The Last Boyscout). All in all it's American glossy imagery that bears no Indian culture, which is the message Bollywood is pumping out now. If you like glitzy machismo & action, then this is your movie.

Leave your intelligence behind!!!
Don't look for any sensible things in this film. Bought it because of Varun Dhawan. The acting is good but the behaviour of the grumpy cop, in another country, is so asinine and unbelievable. That's why enjoy the stunts and give your brains a rest.
