Fantastic.
I got this after seeing the documentary on the Dune Jodorowski would have made and I was very interested in the story he wanted to bring to the screen and after seeing this, I know my interest was not misplaced. The book suffers from a small amount of Deus Ex Machina and happy coincidence, a little forced drama and urgency, but overwhelmingly it is unique, beautifully drawn, well-executed and a great read. Those are minor gripes in the realm of graphic novels, really. The first 50 pages didn't draw me in well but once Jodorowski hit his stride as a storyteller in this medium the book takes off and becomes phenomenal. It's got a blend of almost everything as far as genres go, has interesting viewpoints and a great overall story arc. It has compelled me to get the next book in the series, eventually. If money wasn't tight I would have gotten the second one already.I spent an hour sniffing the pages and looking at the artwork when I first got this, the publishing is VERY quality for the price. Built in bookmark just adds extra value and makes keeping track of your place so simple. If you're a fan of Jodorowski, Moebius or good graphic novels, sci-fi adventures or intellectual, philosophical discourse hidden in a good story, you should get this. You can miss out if you want, but it's totally worth the price to hold this and read it.

Just….yes
I have many copies of the old heavy-metal magazine, but I don’t have the complete story of the Incal.here it is, in all its glory. I love the art, and I finally get to see how the story completely unfolds. The print is gorgeous, and it is a wonderful way to spend an evening or two discovering a new story (if you are new to this) or rediscovering, and — as I have — finally, seeing the full story. At some future point, I will get some of the other books by Jodorowsky, and I’ll let you know what I think about them when I get to it 😉

Loved it, and I can see what it influenced, but also what influenced it
I first heard about this book when it was referenced as something that “The Fifth Element” had “ripped off”, so it piqued my interest. The foreword in it even addresses how many stories have borrowed from it or been inspired by it. Which I thought was weird because of how much it seems to borrow from earlier stories like Dune, Alien, and numerous others. But that’s more a critique of the foreword than the story itself. The story is great. I loved the span of it, the art style is very 1980’s but like the best of that decade. The details of the ships and backgrounds is something I really like. That characters are well written and they all feel very real for the roles they play even as the story progresses and becomes vaster in scale. Overall it’s one of the best comics I’ve read in the last decade, and I’m a little sad I didn’t get it sooner.

Good stuff
Jodorowsky's "The Incal" is a decidedly unique hard book to write about because it is an experience that is deeply engaging, profoundly uneven, narratively frustrating, and dripping with Jodorowsky's almost maniac and gonzo ideas. Jodorowsky's comics are as enigmatic as his films but often with less subtly in its symbolism. While certain characters do have some narrative consistency such as the Metabaron and John DiFool, most the characters seem to have total personality changes depending on the plot. The parameters of the universe are also vague--alternately like a space opera and a Platonic dimensions of geometry. The dialogue is often terrible and borders on a blend of spiritual and techno-jargon. Still, in this comic, one can see the vision that launched a thousand ships. The epic strangeness is unique. If one is not already familiar with Jodorowsky, I strongly suggest starting with the 2014 documentary, Jodorowsky's Dune, and one can see clearly where the maniac genius of "The Incal" was born. The spiritual allegories are also rife in this work in ways that may be somewhat alien to people not familiar with Jodorowsky. Moebius's art as well as the original color work remains and really adds depth of character and interest to Jodorowsky's vision.I strongly suggest reading this even if I will freely admit that it is a far from perfect work.

🤯
The Incal is a book that clearly takes inspiration from The Long Tomorrow but I can’t deny how much more grander in scale it feels compared to it. This book encompasses something beyond the human experience but still manages to make it emotionally resonant to us readers. The artwork is just indescribably fantastic and so is the story. This book will always have a recurring impact on you each time you read it. I’d suggest reading it once every few years. Like the way we watch the Lotr movies every Christmas or read the books once every few years. The Incal is truly a sci-fi masterpiece.

Espectacular edición
Llevaba muchos años tratando de leerlo. Esta versión integral cumplió mi deseo. El arte de Moebius es de un nivel nunca visto en la historieta. Imprescindible para todos los que amen el medio.

Mobius- who else?
Full of amazing imagery and concepts that have been copied, cloned, reworked and reused in everyone else's work- written, anime, film- but appeared here first. US, Japanese, European...essential to understand the origin of the visual language of Sci-Fi cinema, anime, comic books and video games, etc. And, a really fun read on top of all that. Whether those other guys acknowledge this as the source material or not...you will know. Every page will reward a thorough review of the background, the foreground, the figures... all of it.

The best way to experience The Incal
I'm a lifelong Moebius fan, and I didn't know this black and white version existed until recently. Moebius is your favorite artist's favorite artist. He's phenomenal in his unique linework and clarity in storytelling. If you can't secure his earlier, out-of-print work, this is a great one to add to the collection.

A must read.
I had the accumulated stories in single bookforms but this reads way better. Read it in one go. This story shows what we're up and fighting against. The beings who like to destroy us and make us dull, non thinking-non feeling creatures/zombies, only aiming for entertainment and gratification of the senses. A must have for anyone who wishes to escape the confounds of this material world.

Sehr empfehlenswert !
