Better Days - A Mental Health Recovery Workbook

"Better Days" is just about that - Better Days!
"Better Days" is a well constructed workbook for those in recovery; whether from mental illness or addiction. I was attracted to this book because the author has the personal insight and wisdom to put together such a curriculum. It has structure that is progressive in treatment, but also has the flexibility of focusing on a problem area or area of interest in your recovery. For those of you who have been told to journal by your therapist, this is a perfect guidebook for those difficult waters. Its is full of insightful writing prompts that allows for a journal that doesn't require structure but helps build structure over time. I would recommend this for anyone in recovery; especially those skeptical about the process. It is possible to have better days, even when we can't see them. I'm still working with "Better Days"; hope is its virtue. "You're Crazy" - Volume One (Volume 1)

... reading this workbook for a long time after many good reviews of the authors events across North America
I've looked forward to reading this workbook for a long time after many good reviews of the authors events across North America. His work public speaking at events catered to punk rock audiences dealing with topics like mental illness and addiction caught my attention and not being able to catch any events this workbook was my first chance to make use of his knowledge and experience. I had no idea what to expect but I received it at a time where I had been at the peak of dealing with many overwhelming issues including grieving the loss of a parent, depression, social anxieties and a debilitating drug addiction. My choice was to try to deal with this all myself in order to keep my job and hold my life together. Without knowing it in the Better Days workbook I found some great ideas that come from the authors first hand experience and carried over to my own incredibly well. The format turned out to be perfect for the circumstances I happen to be in which was essentially working in a camp environment with no resources to work on bettering myself except quietly in my own mind. Craigs book puts in front of you some super useful practices and exercises that anyone can quietly go over in any environment quietly and then put into action in their own lives. It turned out to be the perfect tool for me to make progress somewhere I thought it was impossible to move forward in such ways and I'm grateful for him putting it out there for the public to use. I can't wait to read his other work and see him speak sometime and hope to see him publish more work of this style or more in depth on similar topics. Great read, highly recommended
