This is a reliable k-type thermocouple wire probe with a K-Type sensor. The sensor is at the tip of a 3 ft long wire (AWG30, or 0.25 mm wire diameter) which has a green FEP high temperature plastic coating. This teflon FEP based insulation is easier to clean than fiber glass insulation. The wire outside is oval and approximately 0.039 by 0.079 inch. This k-type thermocouple has a miniature type connector that will work with most digital K-type thermometer. This k type thermocouple can be used to measure air or gas temperatures, non corrosive liquids and it can be attached to pipes or embedded into objects you want to measure. K type thermocouples are frequently used by scientists in the laboratory for chemistry, biology and physics. It can be used in school, college and university and it is great sensor for science fair projects. This k-type thermocouple can measure very low temperatures, down to - 328 degree F Fahrenheit, or -200 degree Celsius. It is useful in cryogenics and can measure the temperature of dry ice and liquid nitrogen. It is important that the electronic k type thermometer is also rated to this low temperature (many electronic thermometers only measure to -58F, the model Nicety DT1311 and DT1312 go all the way down to -328F).
