Easy to read
I purchased this as a sort of supplemental reading for a survey class I'm taking. I was hoping this all-in-one history book would be easier for me to study from than my huge textbook. It doesn't include everything, of course, but it does do a great job of highlighting all the big events in various points in history and even includes some details that other history books don't. I was surprised how much I learned from this. I really like how everything is laid out, it makes it very easy to follow. I especially like the section on Native Americans. Very concise. Overall I'd highly recommend this book by Adam Brown to anyone who wants to dip there toes in the history of the world.

Cannot recommend
Although it does have some information that looks useful, there are three main reasons for my one star rating. In ascending order of importance:1. The way the book is organized almost makes it seem as though nations existed in near vacuums prior to World War I. I think organizing by time period, rather than region, would be more useful.2. Nothing on the Americas south of the United States. The Aztec, Maya, and Inca civilizations don't even get a mention.3. There are errors in the history. The most obvious one to me states that Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1939 and then invaded Poland. I have to wonder what, if any, errors exist in material I did not know.

Concise History of Civilization to Present Day
This book of history is concise (107 pages), to the point, and astonishingly broad in scope, covering the significant players and events in Western and Eastern civilization from early history to present day. It’s a good survey, and highly recommended if you are unfamiliar with the material or want to give it to your kids to make them knowledgeable about the world. Basically, it covers the who, what, where, and when of the most significant historical events that happened. It consists of an introduction and six concise chapters covering ancient history (Greece, Egypt, Roman Empire, Constantine and Christianity); Asian history (India and its evolution, Korea, and China (multiple dynasties); European and Russian history from the Middle Ages through Napoleonic Europe; American history (Native Americans and regional history); Australian history (British colonization, influx from other sources, Australian politics); and major wars (WWI, WWII, and Vietnam).

Great for people who have sketchy knowledge of world history
I'm the typical person who didn't like history in school very much as a kid, but like it now. The cover caught my eye and I hoped the book would be as exciting as its cover's artwork. It was. It gave me the overview of World history for which I was looking. I came away from the material with one overwhelming fact; The world has been at WAR with each other, from day 1 up until now. We are a WARING SPECIES. I'm not saying it is necessarily always bad........ it just is what it is. When I finished the book I felt like the book could just as easily have been, The Wars of the World. Anyway, the World seems to be a giant "chess game" and it was interesting to see how the game has been played from ancient times.

Great informative Read
I was very surprised that such a short read would be packed with so much information. Usually the history books are filled with a lot of information that isn't interesting, but this one had information that was not only interesting, but information that you would remember and tell your friends and family next time you see them. This book is one of the history books that you will be excited to read and if you can put it down, will want to pick up almost immediately to keep on reading. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in history but don't want to read about all of the boring parts.

Because history doesn't have to be dry and dull. You get all of the high points but none of the headaches.
World History: Ancient History, United States History, European, Native American, Russian, Chinese, Asian, African, Indian and Australian History, Wars including World War 1 and 2 is the world's kindest introduction to world history. You get all of the high points but none of the headaches. It is clear, clean, and gets right to the point of every major time in history. This is world history without all of the boring wordiness. It gives you an over-arching view of every society on earth including their artistic, mathematic, scientific, and cultural accomplishments. You learn about important artifacts, buildings of historical importance, and war motivations, costs, and the after effects. Something that I feel like history classes tend to gloss over is how wars decimate not only the losing side, but the victors' too. In its brief way, this work nods its head to that reality. The tone is of the book is factual and fluff-free but holds interest. The words are not weighed down with any musings about the historical happenings, and so, you can read through this quickly while gleaning only the facts.Wherever history has doubts, they are also noted here. I think this is important because there are some parts of history where things were not written down or otherwise noted (whether it be in song or verses passed down orally), so it's good to know that there are variations in what is known about any historical occurrence.I definitely retained more from reading this than half of the stuff teachers attempted to cram into my head during a year of world history. Which brings up the question of whether "no fluff" history books should be required to introduce such a large amount of history to new students? Why should you read this book?Because reading can enhance your thinking. Because there is so much that can be learned from history. Because history doesn't have to be dry and dull. Because sometimes you need to baby step yourself into the deep well that is world history. History can also influence your thinking and be inspirational, as well as informative, helping to create more well-rounded people who have a greater awareness of the world.

Superficial and too boring to read
I probably expected too much for such a thin little book, but I found it very superficial. The entire October Revolution on less than a page? Well... I was looking for a world history summary, but the information was presented in such a thoroughly boring manner that this book is basically unreadable. I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews, but I definitely wouldn’t buy it again. Read “The Silk Roads” by Frankopan instead!
