Good For What It Is
For those who enjoy fable-format business books, or those considering an initial investigation into EOS, this book has merit. However, like more business fables, it’s written at a low level (I’m guessing eighth grade?). Its language and plot structure can come off as Pollyanna-ish, and its characters are two-dimensional. Nevertheless, it’s a quick read and a good intro to the material. For a more fulsome discussion of its concepts, read Traction (the original core text on EOS) by Gino Wickman.

Better than Traction
This book does a great job of showing the beauty of Traction. The Traction book by itself is dry. This book brings to life how Traction works and shows how to implement the program in a more tangible way. I suggest reading this book and using Traction as a way to go more in depth on each topic.

IF YOUR BUSINESS HAS HIT A WALL, READ GET A GRIP AND TRACION ASAP!
Gino Wickman gets it!If you have a business and you have not grown and you are frustrated with it, you will want to read these books at your earliest convenience.I have read 60+ business books in my career and most have been excellent. But Get a Grip and Traction are the first books ever that do not just tell you what needs to be done (which is what they all do) but they show you HOW, in the most detailed way.The execution part of any business concept is where all books stop and where business begins. But in Traction and Execution that's where the both books begin. That's what both books are about. They show you step by step how to organize your business in a way that it runs by metrics and your management team is responsible for running it. It is done with clarity, accountability and ownership. Can you believe that? It's not about them, but everything is done in the best interest of the company. In Traction and Get a Grip, they go one extra mile. They have experts all over the world that can show you how to implement the process. They even have step by step videos for guidance. Now, that is genius!Congratulations Mr. Wickman!

There's hope that you can get a grip on your business!
There are a lot of great business books out there but few are as relatable and practical as Get a Grip. Whether you are a small business owner struggling with leading your team or finding the right people or a solopreneur in the early stages of your business, this book is for you. Gino Wickman lays out the Entrepreneurial Operating System--a road map for building an organization around a shared vision and practical steps for getting the right people in the right roles, how to assess and hire people with shared values, and a system for identifying and executing a plan to reach clear objectives.Plus, I've never read a business book in the form of a fable. It's easier to remember important concepts when you can remember the associated story. I have a lot of hope as a fledgling business owner, there is a way to work ON my business rather than IN my business...and actually enjoy the process.Read this book!

So excited to engage EOS
I read Traction and it was a good book with a lot of factual info. But when I heard about Get a Grip, I thought it would be good to see/read about EOS in action. And it was all that and more. While I believe in the Traction Model as a great business operating system, I loved seeing it utilized by a (fictitious) company. I could see my own trials and tribulations in the examples given and have already set up my free 90 minute session with an EOS Implementation Coach.I am excited to get my company and my management team connected with my own vision and to get them helping us grow to the organization I have dreamed of. I am also looking to fill the role of Integrator as I, the Visionary, have been the Right Person, Wrong Seat. Thanks Gino Wickman for your wise counsel.KellyCWM

A must read if you read Traction
If you haven't read traction, read that first, followed by Get a Grip and lastly, Rocket Fuel. In Get A Grip, Gino brilliantly demonstrates the power of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) at work. Demonstrating all 6 business components (Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process & Traction) and the powerful tools that make them real, Gino explores several potential dynamics you may encounter on your own journey and provides a practical understanding of how to transform your business and your people from stuck to unstuck. Each tool is introduced to a fairly dysfunctional and chaotic organization that appears healthy to most from the outside in. You can sense the tension followed by the relief and ultimately growth of the company as they apply each tool to the business. Before you attempt to apply the EOS system to your business or department, read this book so you can gain a few nuggets of insight of what you might encounter and how you might plow through the process. It's worth your time to do so.

Great Read…But Read Traction and What the Heck is EOS First!
I enjoyed reading the book. I would highly recommend it after reading a few others in the EOS Library of books. Traction and What the Heck is EOS are really great tools that will help with some foundation around reading “Get a Grip”. Enjoy!

A fabulous tale of EOS Implementation
This book "Get A Grip" is the first book I've read about the EOS, followed by the TRACTION book. "Get A Grip" has not only narrated in vivid detail the tale of an EOS Implementation in a fictional company, but also succinctly explained every one of the six parts of the EOS as well as each one of the 20 tools used in the whole process. I am really awed by the simplicity, pragmatism and the enormous power of the EOS as the way of how any business should be run. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and am quite enthused about becoming a proponent of EOS for entrepreneurial businesses.

3.5 StarsA good book for any business owners whose business has stalled and how to get the right staff in the right positions to help it to the next level. By using a fabled company it helps the reader to understand the examples given.Worth the read

Loved this book - I recommend reading this first you ...
Loved this book - I recommend reading this first you are considering the Traction system, so you can get an idea of how it might solve some problems (or not) for you. Then get Traction to get the actual guide. You definitely see the books that influenced the authors in the pages - Rockafeller Habits, 7 Habits, etc, but this book ties it together into a coherent system that is much simpler than at least Rockafeller.

Great book to make EOS real
Really enjoyed Get a Grip after reading Traction, as reading the EOS methodology in story form helped make it real for me.
