CAFGalanga Root Powder, Ground Dried Galangal Root, Bot Rieng, 2.8oz

Galanga is from the same family as ginger. Should be good in most recipes calling for ginger, as well as some medieval period recipes for those learning to cook for SCA, etc.

Great for my soup recipe

We wanted to try this as we heard about it in a show we watched and it sounded interesting. CAF is a good choice if you want to try this spice. I personally would not buy this kind of product again. I would just use ginger.

If you like Tom Yum dishes, you may purchase a bottle of galanga powder from heathy vege.

I chose this Galangal powder because it states that it is organic, but now today I have received the bottle, and there is no indication on the packaging that it is organic. I have not used it for Tom Yum yet, but I will comment on its taste when we use it.

I will say this, if you cannot get hold of the fresh galangal then use this. Like if there’s no other choice. There’s not much fragrance in there and leaves a slight bitter note in my food. It’s not that bad, just that if your dish heavily relies on galangal to shine through. It will not work.

Is what it says it is

This arrived with no protective outer seal and the inside foil liner was peeled back. Tried to get a replace/refund, but this was not possible. Amazon never returned my calls. Had to give one star and it looks/smells like a good product but I cannot use it if it has been tampered with. I am very unsatisfied with this purchase. Thankfully it was not too expensive.
