Direct Aftermarket Folding Hitch Rack Cargo Carrier 60 inch Hauler 2 inch Receiver

I bought this from Amazon warehouse so I paid substantially less than the list price. Overall it was a good deal but I could see why whoever got it before me returned it. The parts and instructions did not match, and there were flaws that interfered with assembly. For instance, the instructions said use "3" such and such bolts and nuts, and the parts list for that particular bolt listed "1" bolt. When the package was delivered nuts and bolts were dripped out of the box, and while I suspect a bolt was lost (only suspect because the required bolt was not in the parts list) I did get all the nuts, bolts, and washers necessary for assembling the structural components. A couple of bolts would not insert initially because the bottom mesh welds obstructed the bolt holes and had to be filed. I was missing one 45 mm bolt for the end plate and had two longer bolts left over.Pros:Substantial, should hold up better than my previous more expensive rackFolds up behind my KIA Sorento (previous rack would not fold because it didn't clear the bumper)Not difficult to assemble in spite of the poor instructionsCons:The end plate reduces ground clearanceRack fit to hitch is a little sloppy, further reducing ground clearance

Would be 5 stars but the paper assembling instructions are ambiguous; hard to follow; unclear font print and small diagrams. I had to assume some things to complete; took about 30 minutes; had one bolt left over.But I love the product and recommend highly. Full disclosure: this is the only cargo rack I've ever owned and have only used it once on a 2008 Cadillac Escalade. Very rigid & durable, quality powder coating, fairly light and easy to operate. The fold up option works nicely. Lastly, the frame sticks out far enough out from the hitch that you can stand between your vehicle and the frame to easily access your hatch.

A couple of things you need to know before you buy this:1 - The cargo rack gets 5 stars, but the seller gets 1 star. Overall experience = 3 stars. The seller has one job - take the product off the shelf and hand it to the FedEx guy when he shows up. The seller failed. I paid for 2-day shipping and it didn't arrive until the 4th day. Not FedEx's fault - the seller waited until the 2nd day to send it off.2 - The instructions are not as far off as others have indicated, but it will take some common sense to put this together. It's not as difficult as putting together an Ikea "Fleurghenstsalger". Read the instructions through and look at the pictures before you start. Make sure you have all the parts first and wait until the very last bolt is in before tightening everything down. If you tighten as you go, the last few bolts will not easily fit.3 - You are going to need a 17mm, 19mm, and an adjustable wrench to put it together. Sockets will work, too.4 - The cargo rack is sturdy, heavy, and fits together tightly - but you have to remember to tighten all the bolts. It didn't shake or rattle in the up or down position.5 - As stated in the description, it does not come with a hitch pin. You'll need a standard 5/8" hitch pin, which you can get at most auto parts places. While you're out getting the hitch pin, you may want to pick up some reflective tape or stick-on reflectors to make hauling this a little safer.In conclusion, absolutely buy this product! But if you can find another seller with this same product, buy it from them instead.

I purchased this product specifically for a road trip.First let me say that the instructions for assembly are worse than horrible. The parts list is incorrect and it does not list the necessary tools, which would be beneficial since different size sockets are necessary; there are two different size nuts/bolt heads. I had to look at the pics to figure out how to put it together.So far the basket has lasted 3000 miles and seems to be doing ok. I've noticed that there is significantly more movement within the receiver and am concerned that he bouncing is wallowing out the hitch pin holes. Also there is more play side to side making it more difficult to line up the holes for folding it up when it's empty.The air dam on the back will scrape the road when driving across small valleys: such as leaving the fuel station, climbing back onto the roadway, so go slow.Overall the welds seem solid and I've had no breaks. The only problems seems to be with the moving parts, hitch junction and instructions.

Directions were non existent. There is only 2 pictures to use for directions. I finally figured it out. I can't figure how to fold it up without it rubing the back of my truck. But it works for what I intended.

Requires a lot of adjustments. Wants to lean to one side or the other even when items weight is evenly balanced. Square tubing appears to be slightly twisted. I had to use rubber shims to between hitch receiver and metal tubing. Only one pin hole near end of tubing causes the rack to hang lower than expected. I had to drill a 2nd and 3rd pin hole to get it set at a good height, If not metal plate would hit when going in and out of certain places. This may not be a design issue for everyone and could be because of my Ford Flex ride height.

I received the item ahead of schedule! I was extremely pleased with how easy it was to assemble(direction sheet was terrible) but if you use a little common sense the task is easy. It is really useful on long trips and around town just running errands. The cargo rack is very useful for putting bags of potting soil and other items you don't want to put in your truck that is messy. Great price and well worth it!

Same complaints as other reviewers...poor instructions, slow shipping and damaged packaging (but the product itself was not damaged). Also, I question the 500# weight rating. I put only about 150# of wood on it and can see it sag. And I have it mounted to one of the best, heavy duty mounts on the market (Curt). No way I'd ever put 500# on this thing. On the plus side, the hardware is high quality and it all seem to fit together pretty well during assembly. At some point in the future, I'll do more research and find a better built unit even if it costs more.
