A lone voice in the wilderness of madness
In 1997 Britain was at the dawn of a new golden age. We were at the end of eighteen years of Tory sleaze, corruption and self-centred destruction of our society. I and many others truly believed we were about to leave the dark ages. What we didn't realise was we were actually at the beginning of thirteen more years of Tory sleaze, corruption and self-centred destruction of our society. The difference was that this Tory party had the word "Labour" in its title and had at its helm a crew who were masters of propaganda and deceit. This book prunes away the long-held myths concerning the "New Labour" party. When Blair sought out Thatcher's advice on politics and invited her round to tea we should have seen the signs. But New Labour were allowed to turn a relatively stable economy into a country which will be in debt for generations to come and which is the laughing stock of the developed world. Education, the NHS, the police, housing and industry have all slid further into the mire under New Labour. But, as this book states, Blair and his cronies had a propaganda machine working flat out to make them look good. Socialism was abandoned, was twisted out of shape and used only as a weapon to keep the working classes under the Blairite thumb (in much the same way as religion was turned into a weapon for keeping the masses in order centuries ago). Anybody who dares tell the truth about the way this country has gone is accused of racism (an all-purpose insult which has lost its true meaning). New Labour claimed to embrace both a multi-cultural society and Islam whilst murdering innocent Muslim civilians by the thousand in illegal wars. The result was that we now live in a country where religious and racial tension are worse than ever. New Labour have used immigration as a way of providing cheap labour for rich businesses. That isn't racial equality. That's going back to the bad old days. New Labour dumbed down education supposedly in the name of equality whilst sending their own children to expensive private schools. We now have a far-right system posing as socialism (a system I might add the new Tory government has now adopted), and its defenders will stop at nothing to silence anyone who disagrees with them. "Political Correctness" has gone from being a defence against the intentionally offensive to being a way of silencing opposition. What this book does is dare to speak the kinds of words a lot of people, regardless of racial background, are thinking. It contains Littlejohn's usual moments of satire and parody and is well worth reading. To the people who haven't a good word for Littlejohn I say forget what the brainwashing democracy-hating elite want you to believe about him and read this book.

Very funny account of the tragedy of New Labour
Very funny account of the tragedy of New Labour, that great hope for the future back in 1997, that brainwashed us into the PC world we have today where you have to watch what you say for fear of' offending' someone. No-one can laugh at themselves anymore. New Labour, in their naivety, backed George Bush under the lie of Iraq having 'weapons of mass destruction' and helped make a disaster of the whole Arab world where their failure to understand the Arab world's tribal way of life cannot be turned into a democracy. The disastrous premiership of Gordon Brown who sold off our gold reserves for 'a song' whilst chancellor and saved nothing for the future; hence the mess we're still in, financially, today. Not to mention New Labour's disastrous immigration policy. This book makes you want to weep.Thank God for Richard Littlejohn who speaks plainly, with great humour to help the reader understand just what went on. A book to laugh along with and slash your wrists by at the same time. A must-read for anyone who cares about Britain.

Yet another 'accurate' example of how RJ sees the UK as it actually is, like it or not, the truth often hurts!!!!!!

Littlejohn at his very best
Some of us cannot get enough of Richard Littlejohn and his outspoken take on life in Britain as one bunch of bureaucrats after another takes us down. I am one of these saying "More, please, Richard". Somehow having this wonderful writer, novelist and columnist take the proverbial out of more or less everyone takes the edge off some of the weirder aspects of life that might otherwise have us reaching for a weapon. To put it another way, if it wasn't so serious it would be funny - well with Littlejohn around it really IS funny! Nice one, Richard. Keep it up!

Poor old Britain
No need to say what this is about - it's in the blurb and other reviews. As I found this afternoon, if you want something to distract you from an impending dental appointment this will help. You don't know whether to laugh or cry - and end up doing both. In my lifetime I've seen Britain go from relatively sensible to barking mad. And it makes no difference which party is in Government - the Lefties rule anyway because normal people don't want to run the country but just get on with their lives. Sadly, I can see no hope of a return to common sense.

Political comment with Marmite'humour.
A catalogue of political stores from a Right of centre perspective. Probably a little too warm for the snowflakes of the modern left wing.
