Delivered on time. Good Quality & Comfortable. But expensive as I think.

We use this in our spare room and slept on it for a couple of weeks while we were waiting for our new bed to arrive. The bed in there usually isn't overly comfy as the mattress is knackered, but using this mattress protector you would never know. I was really surprised actually. It's a double and the dimensions are quite generous. You don't have to struggle getting it onto the mattress. I haven't washed it yet and can't see me needing to for a while yet as the room just isn't used very often so I can't comment on that aspect. It is certainly an excellent mattress protector though. Even so, I'd be hard pushed to say it is worth just shy of 80 quid at the time of writing. It does make the bed noticeably comfier so I guess it just depends how much you're willing to pay for that.

If you already own SilentNight bedding you will not be surprised to learn that this is a high quality topper with nicely finished seams and thick fabrics. Made from polyester and viscose, it is filled with polyester microfibre and has some real weight to it-nearly 2 kg so when you put it on your bed you have something which will make a noticeable difference to your sleep experience. The surface is a knitted rib pattern which makes the topper feels more substantial and thicker. It is designed to fit tightly across the mattress with elasticated straps the the corners and a foot long skirt around the edge. This ensures that you have a stable, cushioned layer on which to lie although it must be said that in use the microfibre filling does move around a bit meaning it can feel just a touch uneven when you lie down-it may be worth unfastening and shaking once in a while to ameliorate this problem. Nonetheless the topper offers both warmth (it is rated 10.5 tog) and thickness offering a snug and cushioned support to sleep.Washing is possible to forty degrees although only minimal tumble drying is allowed. My concern here would be some smaller washers will not cope with the weight of this topper when wet.All in all this is a topper well up to the high standards set by Silentnight and will appeal to those who will pay a bit more for a product of higher quality and greater warmth.

Ever since I was a passenger in a car accident in 2012, I have suffered from back pain. My bed was intolerable and so I bought a memory foam topper. Whilst the topper was good, it wore out and created many rather hot nights. I have learned that there are many different forms of memory foam and the density is all important. I have tried different densities and never quite found one that really suited. This particular topper is a bit different. It is made from hollow fibre and is set inside if a mattress protector type sheet. It does not have a great thickness and so it is not that comfortable. I would suggest that the topper is more akin to a thick mattress protector rather than a traditional topper which you sink into. This is not a bad thing for many as they can get very hot from the sink in type of topper. Personally, I prefer the traditional topper, rather than this type of protector with bounce type of fitted sheet. With this product, I still got painful joints at the main points that are on the mattress and it did not reduce the tossing and turning.Personally, I need a more traditional deep topper and this just did not do it for me. If you only need a small amount of cushioning and more a mattress protector, then this may be ideal. For my purposes, it just did not do what I needed it to do.

We have a couple of very thick toppers bought from luxury bedding companies and they are like sleeping on a cloud. This is a topper that looks a bit like a heavy duty mattress protector/fitted sheet. The fabric is thick and slightly quilted and there’s a thicker backing on the part that goes on the top of the mattress. The bits that fit around the side are just the fabric but they are generous enough to easily fit around a 30cm thick mattress as in the attached picture.It’s comfortable to lie on but not extremely thick so I would use it on a bed but it’s not going to help make a sofabed more comfortable (that’s what our other luxury toppers do!) I can’t comment on cost as it was unavailable on Amazon at the time of writing this review so no price was listed. I would say any price over about £45 would be too much for the quality of product it is.

A mattress topper is a great investment.They keep your mattress clean and in good condition. They are wildly variable in quality.This one is good though. It's well made, washes well and fits tightly, but easily over the mattress. It's pricey, but worthwhile in my opinion.

This Silentnight mattress topper is a real heavyweight performer. If you need a topper to stay utterly in place because of a particularly active sleeper, then this topper, with its 30cm skirt, is just the job. Providing superb cushioning and comfort this is a real top performing topper. Highly recommended.
