Q: What are the uses of the three sponges? I've heard the white is for smoothing work but what about the other two?

The white is a finishing sponge for groggy clay. It smooths the grog back down for smooth edges. It's the only one I use for smoothing and finishing groggy clay. The other 2 are used, as noted,for making and throwing on any type of clay.

Q: What is the best way to store these when not using?

I use mine almost daily so theoretically I don’t store them. When they dry, they are hard, just like they were when new. I don’t think storing them would be an issue.

Q: Has anyone used this item on unfired ceramics?

What do you mean? I used it to sponge glaze on bisque fire pieces and on the wheel when I’m making the piece to absorb excess water.

Q: Lost of actual material ingredients?

Not sure what you are asking. If you mean do the sponges wipe away a lot of the clay, I’d say no.
