good book great pictures

The book is a huge disappointment. I implicitly assumed I would see photos of many people with Japanese style tattoos by different artists. What you actually get are many pictures of perhaps 5 people with tattoos that all seem to be by the same artist. The photos are not great.I give the book two stars because it is well printed and bound.

Rodrigo Melo is an exceptional tattoo artist, and the pictures of his tattoo art are amazing. Rodrigo is truly a master at traditional tattooing, and in creating large Japanese style tattoos. He also has done several full body Japanese style tattoos. Rodrigo's tattoos have won several awards at tattoo conventions, and his work has been published in many tattoo magazines.

Bought this as a bit of a shot in the dark, never having heard of the author, but so glad I did as it is a really good book. It really just explores how one tattooist came to focus on the traditional Japanese style, having started as a generalist in a walk in shop. But were the book really shines is in the photographs of the guys work. Lots of images showing how large scale Japanese tattoos are built up session by session. Lovely stuff, a great addition to any collection of Japanese style.

Great pictures

I recenty received this book and read it from cover to cover in one night. Great book with lots of amazing images of japanese stye tattoos to look over. The one thing that I was not aware of was that the whole book was about one tattoo artist. I thought there would be a variety of artist to look at and compare. But all in all still a very good representation of the style.
