The Vikings: Raiders, Explorers and Seafaring Warriors

As an avid viewer of the tv show Vikings on the History channel, I thought I would check this out to see if there is any connection with what really had happened in the real Viking lives. And there is according to this book! Now is the real history portrayed on the tv show? No, but there is enough to make watching the show even more enjoyable. Ragnar, Bjorn Ironsides, and Ivar the Boneless did exist! So yeah I like this book.

This book helped to confirm some things I thought I knew and teach me things I didn't know. I'm a big fan of the show Vikings and now I have a much better understanding of where they got the ideas for some of the characters. It also helps me to understand just which parts are more factual.

Although The Vikings is interesting, it reads like a draft not quite finished. There are a number of grammatical errors that detract from the flow of the story. It reads like a written documentary with glimpses of Viking history. With a little polish, The Vikings could be a very good and extremely interesting read!Anthony Lyons of Dodge City

Read this to compare to the history channel show vikings. It turns out the show is pretty accurate. This book reads at a steady pace, in a factual manner and doesn't becoming a droning bore. I'd read other historical books by this author

A good read. A comprehensive look at the Vikings from a social, military, religious, technology and governmental overview. Easy to read, the book covers the basics well.

A well researched history text book, detailing the lives of Vikings. I greatly enjoyed it. You could do far worse as a starting book for researching Viking life.

It is an interesting book that gives a lot of information on the Vikings that is usually not included in many books.

Pretty dry from my standpoint. Lots of facts and dates. Maybe I would prefer a novel.
