Please read it!
Hands down, the best Mr. Evans has written so far. I red all three books in two days. I wish there was more. God, this was a really, really brilliant series.

Looking back after reading the book, I got so much insight that I missed while reading.
The book has a lot of history about Route 66 and the people he meets along the way. I kept thinking about the first Walk series, which the anticipation was so high. I just couldn't wait to see what was happening next. This book and the series didn't have that for me. I kept thinking it was like Route 66, in its glory days, all the action, fun and excitement but now there isn't much there and the excitement isn't there.Charles James as he was walking along Route 66, starting learning about himself and when he met a homeless man, and then stayed at the homeless shelter, that was like a light bulb went off for him. He asked himself as he was leaving to continue his walk, why God didn't do something? Then he said, He just did. It was like this was his defining moment when what he set out to do, came to a realization and he became a changed man. The transformation in him was amazing, and it was nice to be a part of his journey. His goal was to walk the route 66 to California to his ex-wife and his son and try to get her back. When he got there, it wasn't what I was expecting, so there were surprises along the way, some insight and when asked why he did it, he said to decide if he wanted to live or not. Maybe this is why the book didn't have the excitement because having the choice of continuing letting everyone think your dead or coming forward is a pretty solemn place. So for me, the author wrote this book as it had to be written and I am glad the story was told. Like Charles's journey, reading the book was like his journey. I didn't realize until finishing the book and thinking back on it, all that had gone into the book. I can see the parallel between his journey and route 66 and why Richard Paul Evans chose for James to walk this route. It may not of have had the excitement but it sure had the depth and feeling of what route 66 had and has now. Well done.

Another Excellent Series Comes to a Close and Takes Your Heart with it.
The Road Home by Richard Paul Evans is the touching conclusion to the Broken Road series. I have enjoyed reading this series and although I am sad it is ending, I am grateful for the opportunity to read this story and hitch a ride on Route 66 as seen through the main character Charles James. From the beginning of the trilogy I have been intrigued by Charles’ interesting yet turbulent life story and what results from his journey of self- exploration and redemption over the course of his walk along the route. In this installment, he meets more people that challenge his thinking and mental map. Charles has thought provoking encounters at a homeless shelter for men, with a couple that share how they rediscovered each other's happiness, a pretty fascinating author and an insightful pastor during a detour in his quest to reach the end of Route 66. Will his walk bring what his heart has been searching for? Can he really go home again? This final part of the journey is indeed filled with poignant turns that will send the reader reeling from one emotion to the next. I have enjoyed this series and this book is a fitting finale to a terrific trilogy. Richard Paul Evans has a masterful way of making his readers connect with the characters and leaving them wanting more. His vivid descriptions and engaging dialogues really make his books a pleasure to read. I recommend this and all of RPE’s books. His audiobooks are wonderful too! Fabulous! If a heartfelt journey/ Is the hook/ Look no further/Read these books!

To lose your life is to find it .
I liked how Mr. Evans skillfully portrayed the destructive effects of a self satisfying life and then the happiness and peace one experiences when focusing on and helping others who have needs.

We can all walk a new road in life
Walking Route 66 with Charles James and Richard Paul Evans in THE ROAD HOME was an emotional and intellectual event that stirred my imagination and brought tears to my eyes. Every step of the way was profound, and I wished for myself and others the opportunity to restart our lives on a self-proscribed journey absorbing the beauty as well as the harshness of nature, and bonding with fellow travelers from all walks of life in eloquently described small towns and cities across the Southwest. Charles James embraced his assumed death in an air crash, and while not considering himself the most deserved to live, he took his blessing and remained dead to the world while seeking a new life on his own terms. Would it lead to reconciliation with the father that abused him, the brother he abandoned, and the wife he loved inadequately? Encounters with the homeless, a hard-working waitress, a generous caregiver for the homeless, an undocumented field worker, and other wonderful real characters, replaces his source of personal identity that had been molded by business success, power, money and greed. Will his divorced wife, Monica, and son, Gabriel, see the new Charles, and will they begin a new journey together? That’s for the reader to learn. Richard Paul Evans has given us a masterpiece of reading joy and inspiration to walk our own new roads.Norman in Reno

Probably my favorite RPE book so far!!!
This book was amazing! I was able to read it early due to winning a contest, yes, I was voted one of Richard Paul Evan's biggest fans, be jealous!! I was given an advanced copy and finished it weeks ago but still have to buy the official hard cover book! I will not add spoilers but I am in love with this book and the entire Broken Road series! I have read the books as they came out and before this book was given to me, I re read the first 2 books so that I could refresh my memory of every single detail of the series. It made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me so incredibly sad that it was over. This book has been a part of my life for 3 years now and when I read the last page, I cried knowing Charles James story was over and I would no longer be able to read about him! But what a great ending! Everything I wanted to happen happened. I couldn't put it down! READ THIS BOOK, READ THIS SERIES!! If you have never read a single RPE's book before, start with this series! You will not be sorry!! I have already purchased 6 copies for friends and family and got them hooked on it!!!
