Geologist’s Hammer -- 28oz Steel Rock Pick for Rockhounding, Mining, Prospecting

Bought this for some light rock breaking, the sharp pick edge dulled, flattened, and bent really fast the first time I used it. I advised the company who, to their credit, sent me a "new replacement." However the replacement showed up with the pick already dulled and bent.

Wonderful hammer for a rockhound. Will try it out this week, looking for tourmaline in Maine.

Ty his product was lower in quality than I expected. Low grade metal renders the pick useless against even soft rocks. Plastic handle is too slick for a light grip. I did happen to throw mine at a rattle snake with some affect towards the positive.

I purchased two pair of these last year (hard-rock pick and sedimentary hammer) for about $25. So price has now doubled. Used in my introductory class on field trips. Only trouble is wear of steel points is much greater then that on my Estwing pick I've used for 48 years. I would recommend these for non-professional.
