The Missing Link: Your Journey With Peter From Self Power to Holy Spirit Power

I preface this review by fully admitting that I consider Sam Hunter a dear friend of mine and I have attended his Bible Studys regularly for over 7 years. Sam Hunter is filled with a passion for taking men from "believing in Jesus" to experiencing a personal relationship with Christ that results in the A+ life here on earth.His entire ministry is predicated on the message of Matthew 7:21-23, that there will be many people who believe in Jesus' existence but who have not established a relationship with him... a surrender to Christ. When these people stand before Jesus their works and their good deeds won't matter if they don't have that personal relationship. It is Sam's desire that no man stands before Jesus and experiences the surprise of Jesus declaring "I never knew you".The Missing Link has been a delightful read for me. It is a daily walk with Peter as he talks through and works through his transformation from self centered to Holy Spirit centered. If you are looking for a book with lots of direct quotes of scripture verses then this may not be the book for you. However, if you really want to know what it means to have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, you are in the right place. If you feel like there is just "something missing" in your life, then this book will help you to explore the idea of relying on the power of the Holy Spirit so that you can experience the A+ life: Heaven here on Earth.

Recently, I have begun reading again. It has been a while. Upon my return to reading, I have found that I cannot read just any book. The Missing Link is not just ANY book. It provides easy reading and comprehension, it is not pretentious, and it is thought provoking.The book is written from Peter’s perspectives. However, while reading the book, I often would forget that it is supposed to be Peter speaking and not me. I felt like I actually took a walk with Peter on his journey. Sam Hunter leads the reader to relate to Peter’s questions, doubts, fears, convictions, and passions.Do we really know Jesus? Can we know who Jesus is apart from the Holy Spirit? How can we ever know what we do not know? Have we missed who the Father truly is and how much He loves us? Are we experiencing just an average life? What is the only way to defeat a Self-centered life? How can we serve God more effectively? These questions (and many more) will ignite a flame in the reader to dig for deeper roots.The Missing Link had an impact on how I look at the Holy Spirit IN me, an impact on how I regard knowledge and success, an impact on what the roles of the Trinity are, an impact on putting God before Self.An impact — An. Impact.I highly recommend this book for anyone who seeks a closer walk with Jesus and wishes for the Holy Spirit to dwell within him/her.

Sam explains how we can achieve a Spirit filled, A-Plus, Life with such Clarity and Inspiration.Before reading this Book I knew about Peter, but I didn’t KNOW Peter. This Journey with Peter brings him to Life up close and Personal and reveals how the Holy Spirit changed Him and the World, just like it can change us forever.As I read “The Missing Link” it is Transforming me from a Mediocre Christian, stumbling through Life doing the best I can, to a Jesus filled Child of God with the Holy Spirit alive in me. This Holy Spirit gives me new Power that will never leave me nor You.

This book is amazing! Through Peter's first hand account, we experience the power of the Holy Spirit. In my mind, the Holy Spirit is a hard concept to understand and, even harder, is how the Holy Spirit can apply to me. This book threads the needle of making this hard concept easier to understand through Peter's first hand account. The author makes the Holy Spirit personal and when it becomes personal, it can matter to anyone. This book illustrates that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is possible and that is possible through the Holy Spirit.If you feel lost, If you want to go deeper, If you want to have a personal relationship with Jesus: I would highly recommend this book. It can make all the difference.

Reading Sam Hunter’s words stirred within me memories I have not consciously revisited for a very long time. In the fall of 1966 I was 19 years old, just one more lost kid searching for some sort of solid footing in a world immersed in chaos. With fierce determination my generation challenged anything and everything that claimed the right of authority over our lives. We were a generation lost in a sea of questions for which we could find no answers. It was at that point that my Creator stepped into my life, showed me He was really there and asked for my submission to Him. After no small turmoil I bowed before Him as my God. From that point on I knew that something massive had changed within me but I had no clear understanding what or how or what it meant. It took me years of churning for me to grow into a clear understanding of what it means for a person to live daily in the presence of God through simple faith in Christ and the working of His Spirit in and through me. Reading The Missing Link reminded me of that churning process in my own life. Thank you, Sam, for the way in which your imagined Peter brought me back to my own roots. The Meeting is a great story that does all these things well, but most importantly, it helps us to see our place in God's Kingdom. The story of Peter; not the white robed saint at the Pearly Gates, but the self assured, self confident, and self powered fisherman who came to see that after the Resurrection, Jesus' gift of the Holy Spirit is the only true source of power to lead a life of unparalleled strength and peace in servanthood to our Lord. And through this story, we are shown that the Holy Spirit is a gift made available to us all. Entertaining and thought provoking, reading the Missing Link will be time very well spent.
