Vivid and Clear but not Super Engaging
After taking part in a chemistry demonstration at school, my preschooler has gotten really into science. So I tried to find some books to further that passion, and this one popped up as a suggestion. I ended up downloading it as an ebook, and I've read it with my daughter a few times over the past week. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:1. Beautiful illustrations. Simple. Clean. Engaging. It's been a while since I've taken biology, so I can't speak to their accuracy, but they seem detailed without being overly complicated. My daughter loves the vivid colors and especially all of the green.2. Easy to grasp descriptions. Each letter of the alphabet comes with a microbiology term and a brief explanation of that term. The descriptions are each about a sentence long and written in language accessible to a 3 year old.Cons3. Some of the descriptions feel a little thin. I find myself supplementing a lot of the descriptions with extra information. Which I did wth most books, but it feels like l have to with this book to keep my daughter's attention. Like, T-cells are described as "white blood cells made in the thymus." So I end up explaining what the thymus is and what white blood cells are and how they capture and destroy disease germs... And that all seems more interesting than what actually is in the book.4. A little more style would've been nice. And by style I mean a theme governing which terms are included (it feels a little random), a more engaging way of describing the terms, or a clearer progression/point (i.e., having the descriptions build to show larger concepts rather than just describe isolated components).Overall, this is a good book but not quite as engaging as what I hoped for.

Excellent.
This is an excellent ebook. I really enjoyed it and so did my niece. I work in the healthcare field so this is something right up my alley. I wanted to find a book to introduce my niece to biology in a fun way. This ebook goes through each letter of the alphabet one by one. A biology word for each letter and a great colorful drawing to go along with it. There is even a short definition or explanation of each word. My niece became very curious and started asking me questions. Exactly what I was hoping for. She is learning and I am so happy. Great idea and great book.

Probably not great for kids
This is a good book but not ideal for children. My 20 month old daughter somewhat enjoys it... the science is a little more advanced and the pictures are not really that appealing for children since most of the pictures are of cells or cell walls or unicellular organisms, which for the most part all look the same to kids and are not that exciting. The book also has paper pages and is not a board book. I would probably not buy this again or recommend it, even though I am a doctor and enjoy trying to encourage science to my kids.

WOW! What an Ebook this is ofMicrobiology ABC's -for kids!
I found this to be both a refresher course on microbiology as well as learned a few few new things that I do not remember learning in school at all. Quite creative and helpful in both words and illustrations as well. So, for reasons I would like to recommend this for both five stars and for kids 2years and up! Super job Michael! By Angela

Love it!
My almost 2yo sat through the whole thing, occasionally smiling and then asked me to read it again. ,I don't expect him to understand but exposure to so many new words is supposed to be very good for building language skills. and exposure to a new subject is supposed to build new neural pathways for him to use later. Thanks to the author, from my family!

SNAG THIS FREEBIE NOW, NOW, NOW!!!
The author kinda cheats with the letters J, K, N, & W, but as you can tell by my Amazon review headline, I love this alphabet science picture book so much that I'm not only willing to overlook the author's "cheats," but I'm planning to share the eBook with our school's science team :-DYou'll find amazingly detailed illustrations and simple yet highly informative definitions in the FREE FOR NOW "Microbiology ABC's" by Michael Bacotti (Author, Illustrator) at Microbiology ABC's .

Perfect for the nerdy nursing student mom!
Though my infant son has no idea what any of it means he does get super interested in watching me explain what each of the cells/organelles/microorganisms are. I do wish this came in a hardcover since he’s gotten close to ripping the page a few times!

Misleading and inaccurate title
I should’ve listened to reviews that said not to buy. This is a book of microbiology ABC’s not sure why plant cells are mentioned here, the study of microbiology is about microscopic organisms and plant cells are not part of that. Also cell junctions occur mainly in multi cellular organisms such as animals and not part of microbiology. Again microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and prtozoa. Immune cells such as T cells, natural killer crlls etc fall under the discipline of immunology. This book would have been better off called “ABCs of Biology” very divas appointed. Not worth the money. I would return except i decided to write clarification notes in it to give to my niece.
