Much better lamp then I had before
Much better lamp then I had before. A lamp that can be positioned was necessary for my desk because my lamp has to be placed off to the side but have enough light to reach my work station. This lamp is perfect because you can position the light virtually anywhere. People have complained about the shade getting too hot being made of metal and all but I have no problems with heat because I use an A19 60w equivalent Philips LED bulb. It produces an enormous amount of light (800 lumens) and is perfect when I am working on paperwork. It also has knobs and nuts that can be tightened in case of sagging over time. A black and white lamp was most preferable for me considering my setup is black and white. I have two complaints for this lamp however. First off the base is made of that material you find on the bottom of couches. This means that if you set this lamp on your desk, it will most likely slide all over the place when being positioned. I was able to counteract this by putting a little square of rubber checkerboard stuff you put beneath carpets to keep them from sliding around. The rubber stuff now keeps my lamp from sliding and also counteracts a lot of the top-heaviness. But secondly my biggest complaint, while the lamp base is sturdy and mostly heavy (around 4-6 lbs I believe) It does not usually stay still while adjusting the lamp. Once you have the lamp positioned the way you want it, the base will keep the lamp from falling over, but almost every time you adjust it, you will have to hold the base as well. Other than those problems (which may not even bother you), you should be totally fine with this lamp (though I highly recommend you purchase a slim LED bulb like my to keep the lamp shade from getting extremely hot). In total I only spent $30 ($5 for bulb, $25 for lamp) including tax, so I am happy with my purchase and it produces more than enough light for my work. I will update this review in the case of any problems I encounter.

Nice quality with a few minor flaws
I like this lamp, but I have a few issues with it.First, it's wobbly. The screw that holds it into the base doesn't tighten enough, or the hole that the lamp sits in, in the base, is a little too large. This really only affects you while swiveling it.Second, the up-and-down tilt on the head doesn't work very well. No matter where I point it, an hour later, its back to basically straight horizontal. You can swivel the head side to side, so you can use this to get around the limitations of the up and down.Lastly, the lampshade focuses the light much more than I want it to. If the bulb weren't so deep into the shade, the light would be more diffuse, or if the lampshade where translucent (even just a little bit) instead of completely opaque, it would be a huge improvement. I may ask an leaded glass artist I know to work up something of a replacement shade.I have an LED bulb in it, which keeps it nice and cool, and helps give me the lighting color and level that I want. It also draws far less than the maximum 60 watts permitted by the lamp. The construction of the lamp seems good quality. The steel bars don't feel flimsy at all, and don't remind me of cheap "white metal"; they feel like they're honest to goodness steel. The contrasting white and black help make the lamp look nice.

Lamp’s appearance looks great but I bought this expecting it to be able to be adjusted forward. It’s basically up and down only and not forward and back. Hard to explain really but don’t expect the bottom elbow area near the base to be able to bend forward. It does not. Also, the elbow near the bulb where you’re able to adjust where the light shines will not stay put unless you take a tool such as pliers to extremely tighten it to tie max.

Nice Lamp
I use this on my work desk in my basement. The lighting there isn't the best, and there really aren't enough plugs to get everything you might like. This lamp does give me the ability to put the light where I need it. One thing I did do was replace the normal light bulb with a LED bulb. This really increased the output from the lamp. There is that problem with the LED bulb being heavier then a normal bulb. This created the problem of locking in the arm so it wouldn't droop under the weight. You can tighten it enough, but you do have to work at it After getting it really tight, it has held that position for over a month now. Not sure how easy it would be to constantly change the positioning, but holding it's position the lamp works just fine.

Great Lamp!
Well I was in the neighborhood for some lighting on my desk where my PC is.I picked this lamp because it had a special uniqueness and looked creative..I guess it reminds me of Apple products and how they market their stuff..One thing I really like about it is the you know its well made and you get what you see.easily adjustable and doesn't collapse under it's own weight. The base is sturdy. The one thing I would say costed it one star is the part where the adjustablearm connects to the base, it's a little wobbly but not enough where youhave to worry about it.4 stars still means I love it. I definitely would suggest this to a friend ( or maybe even a stranger )Haha but any, the best lamp in it's price range guaranteed.

Not very bendable
Cute lamp, nice size for desk. But the bottom hinge doesn’t move very much, so the lamp can’t be folded in very many positions.
