We Got It All On UHF!
Being a huge fan of Weird Al Yankovic (yes, that's right, -vic, not -vich or -vitch or anything else people have made up in their heads), I ordered this movie and lay in wait beside the letterbox until it's arrival.I absolutely loved it.Weird Al proves he's not just a funny singer/songwriter with a love for polka. He's also quite the actor. He plays George, a man who can't hold a job for more than a few days or so and always has his head in the clouds. The opening sequence itself is one of George's many daydreams, with himself in place of Indiana Jones. When his rich uncle (a skilled gambler) wins the rundown UHF station U62 in a game, he plans to dump it. But his wife wants to keep it, even though they know no-one who can run the place... or do they? And so George becomes the manager of the TV station... but all it does is show boring old reruns! Can a hapless janitor and a bunch of town crazies save the station?...This movie is enjoyable for the whole family, laughs are always round the corner yet it can still hold a plot. And for the hardcore Al fans, there's an excellent parody ("Money For Nothing/Beverley Hillbillies*", parody of "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits). And with an excellent commentary by Weird Al Yankovic himself and his manager Jay Levey, and a few little Easter eggs scattered here and there, UHF is definitely worth it's money.

Welcome To Channel 62!
As a huge fan of "Weird Al", I certainly wasn't disappointed when I purchased "UHF". This movie has everything that we love about the court jester of rock n' roll right down to his unusual dress sense. "UHF" follows George Newman ("Weird Al" Yankovic) a man who coincidentally shares Yankovic's quirky and off-the-wall imagination. Unfortunately this weird imagination doesn't land him a cushy record deal but constant firing from his jobs. However fate takes the form of Channel 62, a run-down TV station that his Uncle won in a poker game and he lands the job of station manager. With the help of friends, George attempts to hold down a job for once, win back the girl of his dreams and run an out-of-luck station with surprising results. Watch as hilarity runs riot with Yankovic as the ringleader. This film didn't receive the credit it deserved when it came out but it sure made an impact on cult films as we know today. This is definitely one for the collection people! Forget Tim Burton, lose Terry Gilliam and ditch Sam Raimi because there's a new kind of weird and it's right here on Channel 62! Stay tuned!

Weird al
I love weird al as he’s broken down barriers as a comedian and musician. He’s one of the many celebrity comedians who’ve inspired me to become a comedian.

Still as good as it always was
UHF? Saw this on a satellite movie channel around 20 years ago with my 2 kids (well they were then!) we all loved it and with usual satellite movie channels saw it every time it was on. 20 years on yes, not a classic and yes, a well worn used plot but still good family entertainment bought 3 copies of this disc one each for my 2 and also one for myself, and yes still want to be at Stanley's Clubhouse and the classic line "Do you want a drink from the fire hose?"

Outlandish, simple and fun to watch!
U.H.F is without doubt an entertaining film, and makes for a fun and easy watch. If you are feeling in a silly mood, and want a light, irreverent frolic through the world of television, advertising, and music, then you are likely to enjoy this movie. What it lacks in plot, it makes up for with belly laughs, and on the spot satire. It holds up well twenty years after it was made, retaining an eighties feel whilst still managing to be relevant. The film works more as a series of funny sketches, threaded by a loose plot which involves the fate of a failing and unpopular local television station, which falls into the hands of Weird Al Yankovic's hapless, head in the clouds character, George Newman. Weird Al works better in the parody sketches of famous films, and in George's outlandish dream sequences, and falls slightly flat when required to act in more 'realistic' situations. As such his character is both likeable but at times irritating. The parody sketches are all you will remember however, and range from spoofs based on Indiana Jones, Ghandi, and Conan the Barbarian. All in all an enjoyable, if whacky and unpredictable film.

A Great "Weird Al" movie
Non-stop laughs in a great movie. A very strong story line with great actors including Michael Richards (Kramer in Seinfeld) and Fran Drescher. Story includes parodies of many movies. If I only bought one "Weird A" DVD, this would be the one. (Just kidding Al, I buy all your CDs and DVDs).

Il titolo dovrebbe già far capire tutto.
Un film per gli amanti del surreale e del grottesco. Sicuramente non per tutti i palati. Un umorismo graffiante fatto di citazioni e di dissacrante ironia politically scorrect.
