This new Carbon Freezing playlet got me quite excited for various reasons. And so I bought two of them. However, I rate it with four stars only.I thought it was really good news when Hasbro announced this Carbon Freezing play set. What I like is that it is a playlet of an ironic scene that accommodates quite a few figures, and I would love more play sets. It comes in the beautiful Vintage Collection line and packing with its retro silver lining and attractive pictures. Being a Vintage Collection line set it also implies that the set is hyper realistic, detailed and weathered - close to movie prop likeliness, doing justice to the quality VC figures. Importantly, it’s modular, you can combine a second set to create a full round platform. And who knows in the futures there may be further additions. There are no stickers and only a little bit of assembly is required at the start. What I struggle with a little is what you get; it is essentially a base lifted by some pillars, a staircase and a carbonisation unit with some limited play functionality. When assembled it is fairly sizeable which justifies the price I suppose, certainly given that a figure is included. But I’m not sure about the empty corridor extension at the top end. And it certainly doesn’t look like a complete scene and environment that offers a fairly realistic photograph backdrop, unlike the excellent and spectacular Jabba throne room from 2019. Or the the recently announced Tantive IV modular hallway set (can’t wait to put my rebel fleet officers in there). So I would have appreciated it and paid up for it if more Tibana gas canisters, control panels and industrial parts or a blast door on top of the stairs were included. Or even a cardboard back ground could make the set more complete. Secondly, the included figure is a storm trooper. Now I can never have enough army builders and it comes on a new attractive card, that looks very nice. But we have all our figures loose. And then given that most collectors already have lots of generic storm troopers even from the VC line, why wasn’t a repainted Ugnaugth or Bespin officer from the Legacy line included? Or Lobot that was last seen only in the 2004 OTC line?Lastly, the choice of scene itself. While the Jabba Trone room was unique, we already had a Power of the Jedi Carbon Freezing Playset from 2001 that wasn’t as realistic and had more emphasis on play than display, but it was good. Why didn’t Hasbro opt for something new, more risky, like the Bespin dining room?Still I’m happy and pleased. For decades I couldn’t stop piling up Star Wars figures. And we love to carefully play or display them. The vehicles in the Vintage Collection range have been great over the past few years. But modular playsets are more of a recent thing that excite me again. So I can’t praise the Jabba throne room enough and hope we’ll get more of connecting parts for that - hunch, hunch - I know Hasbro reads my reviews. But I’m certainly in the market for other scenes as well, Luke’s Tatooine Home stead, a Death Star detention block, a Rebel meeting/strategy room, parts of the Hoth base including a medical facility, elements of the Geonosion factory, Kylo Ren’s quartesrs ect. I mean there is plenty for which I’ll gladly free up some space.AlsoI should add to my plea to Hasbro, that probably like most older generation figure collectors while I was not that impressed with the Rise of Skywalker and even less the Last Jedi, these movies are cannon and hence I would still very much appreciate toys and playlets from these movie as well, these movies shouldn’t be under represented in the Vintage Collection.

Great for fans
Bought for my son's 11th birthday, he absolutely loves it. It is a lot for what it is but worth it for the enjoyment he gets out of it.It works as a playset being from the iconic scene, but I do wonder why toy makers do some things and not others, particularly when there are plenty of options in the Star Wars universe. Nevertheless, a good addition for a big fan.

A wasted opportunity!
This set is not worth the money, considering its from the vintage collection it feels cheaply made, you do get a stormtrooper figure on a nice card but mine was bent out of shape so i have tried to straighten it out and it looks better now, when i read they were making this i was really looking forward to a lit up carbon freezing chamber but sadly Hasbro chose not to bother but have chosen to put a price tag of £49.99 for a set that basically does nothing,no electronics, no foot pegs, cheap flimsy plastic for the design at the top of the stairs, there's just nothing here to get excited about,a real shame
