Extra butter please.
Like the billboard preview for the first show. Old fashioned story and visuals. Take a ticket. Fun.

Terrific moments
The last third is sluggish, after a fine opening and engaging second act. There is a tad too much macho preening, that kinda felt actory, rather than earned. Still, Nolte and Boothe exchanges were fun. And Rip Torn……..always fun seeing what he does. Worth a re-watch.

Much improved HD transfer of 1987 action classic, augmented by terrific special features
EXTREME PREJUDICE is one of my favorite movies from the 1980s, thanks to Walter Hill's direction, a cast loaded with great actors and Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic music. Part of Vestron Video's (Liongate) Collector's Series, this release makes the previous Artisan DVD with its atrocious full screen presentation completely obselete. EXTREME PREJUDICE comes to BD with a much improved widescreen transfer. In my mind, the transfer still needs some improvement but if you've been suffering with the previous DVD release as many have, you can throw it in the trash or rest a drink on top of it after you replace it with this one. If you love this movie as much as I do, not only does this have a better transfer but there's a great commentary track filling in a lot of details about the making of the film as well as a fantastic one hour interview extract with director Walter Hill from 2019 where he talks about the making of this film and a few others in his filmography. Add to that superb recent interviews with actors Michael Ironside and Clancy Brown and you will have even more information about the making of EXTREME PREJUDICE. Critic John Takis takes us through a great presentation of Jerry Goldsmith's music for the film as well. This is no time for testimonials to the Ranger but it IS time for you to throw out that DVD and buy this excellent BD presentation of EXTREME PREJUDICE from Vestron Video and Lionsgate.

Finally A Great Blu Ray Release Of A Fine Movie!
Like too many others I had to suffer for years with the less than stellar pan and scan DVD release. This new blu ray from Vestron/Lionsgate does justice to the movie. The film never did well on the original release to theaters, but deserved better. Basically a western with a side plot of a military/drug operation of reported dead soldiers lead by the always fascinating Michael Ironside in one of his earliest role. They plan to take down drug lord Powers Boothe (always great acting assured) whose best friend growing up is now a Texas Ranger (Nick Nolte, who never looked better physically than this) who wants to stop him. Add Rip Torn, Maria Conchita Alonso and people like Clancy Brown as the soldiers, and you have a character driven action movie with a finale that will remind you of the finale of The Wild Bunch...but in a good way. Nolte is stoic, Boothe is amusing and deadly, Ironside is properly nasty and menacing, and Alonso is wonderful as well as beautiful. Rip Torn does a great turn as a Sheriff. No scenery chewing, just good acting. Highly recommended!

Bought It for the Extras
I’ve always liked this movie since I saw it at a theater back in the late 80’s. I owned the mediocre DVD twenty years ago, so I looked forward to an HD release. I finally bought the Japanese Blu-ray a few years ago (transfer is great). When I heard “Extreme Prejudice” was finally being released on Blu-ray in the US, I was reluctant to purchase it, but I read there were extra features included. I went ahead and took a chance (it is reasonably priced) - I was not disappointed! The interviews and other extras provide new insight on the background and making of this movie. Highly recommended!

POOR IMAGE QUALITY
Given studio canals impressive reputation for their 4k catalogue , i was looking forward to the blu ray release of this Walter Hill classic .To say i,m disappointed is putting it mildly .The picture quality is noticebly grainy and the colours are very washed out looking .There is no sharpness in the colours at all .Overall , a very poor release from studio canal .I advise buyers to be cautious .

The Hill is alive and kicking
One of The best movie titles ever. If Walter could have pimped up The violence A notch, this would have been an action classic, but by all means, it delivers The punch The Walter Hill way. Great bluray disc with subs.

shoot 'em up, blow 'em up in Texas
It's a case of brain in neutral and enjoy. The underlying story (there is one, trust me) consists of Michael Ironside (perpetual baddy) and his team of elite soldiers (including Clancy Brown - the baddy from Highlander) go to a small town in Texas to rob a bank under military orders. The towns local ranger (Nolte) is currently having with an ex-friend and now drug dealer. These two things are interlinked. But who are the good guys and who are the bad guys.It all ends in a small village over the mexican border. If you like blow em up, shoot em ups this is for you.
