The Grave of the Fireflies Paperback – February 24, 2009

This isn't the Japanese book I thought I purchased... I didn't look too well... my bad... it's just anther book with the same title... was that on purpose? I tried reading it, but it's not too good, a mediocre book by a new writer I think... and she needs more experience... should'nt have used the same exact title, but maybe she's young enough that she didn't know? But the publisher should've known, which makes me think it was done on purpose to get some sales by people not careful enough. The real 'Graveyard of the Fireflies' can be downloaded free on the net, though I do think you will get more out of it if you get the literary context of the writer and his times, his zeitgeist... which means an interpretation... I found off of a Japanese Studies article... had to purchase it, but for me, it was worth it: "Laughter and Tears: The Complex Narratives of Showa Gesaku Writer Nosaka Akiyuki" by Hiroko Cockerill out of the University of Queensland, Australia, 13 Dec 2007Obviously, this wasn't the book I thought I was buying.

I was expecting the original author. The Grave of the Fireflies ( Hotaru No Haka ) by Akiyuki Nosaka.

This is quite an interesting read. This is a very good book, and has twists that you will not always expect, and sometimes is hard to follow, but it does reward those who read it. It is a good addition to the literature that is already out there and I recommend reading it to whoever reads this review.

Alycia is a talented young author who is on her way to being very popular. I can't wait for the sequel to come out. Her book "The Grave of the Fireflies" is full of twists and turns and you just can't wait to see how it ends! Good reading!

Was expecting the actual grave of the fireflies written by Akiyuki Nosaka, this is the first thing that came up when I searched for him.
