Charges trolling motor batteries very well...
I got tired of always busting out the battery charger from the garage to set it up on the boat to charge the trolling motor batteries and then removing it again to put it away before heading out again. I know it doesn't take a lot of time to do that, but I prefer to be doing fun stuff instead of a lot of back and forth and crawling in and out of the boat. With this charger, I can just plug it in while standing outside of my boat and be done.I researched several chargers and decided to go with the Minn Kota because it is one of the charges on the market that has the electronics to charge batteries without damaging them.My boat is not very big, but I found a spot where I could bolt it onto wood under the driver's console. Even though the unit is large, it still did not interfere with my feet. The reason to mount it to wood is to prevent the case of the charger from grounding to the metal components of the boat. If you don't have a wood panel on your boat to mount it, you can bolt a piece of wood to a metal surface and then mount the charger to the wood.It has indicator lights to let you know what is going on with the charging. There are two lights per battery bank that change color or flash to give different indications of the status. The charge time is perfect. It charges my large deep cell batteries in about 7 hours. My other charger was a 2 amp and it took 13 to 14 hours. Even though a 2 amp charger is supposed to give a much better charge, this Minn Kota 5 amp per bank charger made my batteries work much better because of its better float charge technology. The battery connections are made of steel to help prevent moisture corrosion. Each bank has a fuse in the cord that is encased in a water resistant rubber case. The cords are a good length, but it would be nice to have about 12" longer. One of the cords was just barely long enough to reach the second battery. However, the instructions do tell you how to add wire to the cords. It has a power cord to plug into an outlet or extension cord. One option I really like about this charger is that it comes with a separate small mount to plug in the power cord when not in use. It is a very simple piece, but it helps to protect the plug, and it helps to keep it out of the way and from jumping around when you are on rough water. Since I can plug the cord into this mount when not in use, I then always know where the end of the cord is so that I can reach it from outside the boat without have to dig for the cord. The packaging was not durable at all. The unit is heavy, but the manufacturer only used conventional cardboard boxing instead of double wall sturdy boxing with foam cushioning inside. I tend to think the charger would not get damaged from poor handling since the casing of it is very durable, but check your charger when it arrives for any damage just in case.Overall, I think I made a great choice for a deep cell battery charger. My batteries work better and the charge time is perfect for an overnight charge. Installation was easy (other than the obvious difficulties I had removing panels to hide cords behind them). I no longer have to fiddle with my batteries connecting and disconnecting the charger and I get longer battery time on the water when trolling.Update: I've had this on my boat for a year and have this charger plugged in almost every day (except during the winter). It has performed very well with no trouble at all. In a few months, I will convert to a 24 volt trolling motor, but the nice thing about this charger is that it will work with 12 or 24 volt configurations.

Bought open box
Upgraded my trolling motor to 24v, needed a two bank charger. Bought this unit open box. It arrived in the factory box (inside the shipping box). The factory box was in rough shape but all the parts, directions and warranty cards were there. The unit appears to have never been installed. I Installed the unit, it works perfectly. Got a good deal!

Good product, better packaging required
This seems like a very well made product. It arrived on time and was very easy to install on my pontoon boat. It shipped in a very thin corrugated box that was in rough shape when the product arrived. Luckily the battery charger was not damaged. With a heavy item like this, Amazon should make sure that it is packaged better.

Best bang for the buck in an on-board multi bank Battery Charger
I researched on-line for hours trying to find the best 3-bank "On-board" boat battery charger. I decided this one was the best value because I like the relatively quick charging time of the 10 amp version, I needed 3-banks for charging my two batteries for the 24V trolling motor and the one main cranking battery. I just installed it a few days ago and this thing is awesome! I have had many boats and correspondingly many boat batteries and chargers and the time & hassle savings of having one of these on board chargers is awesome! I run a trolling motor and a lot of electronics as well as underwater and on board "LED" boat lights on my boat, so my batteries get depleted after a day (or night) on the water). When I get home I just plug in the charger and go in the house--when I am ready to go again all 3 batteries are topped off and ready to go! No more struggling to get inside the center console or battery box to clip individual battery chargers to the batteries and charge them one by one for several days! This thing does it all at once. NOTE: you must have about a 10"X18" rectangular area to mount this in your battery box or other dry storage area. I bolted mine down to the floor inside the battery compartment (in my Center console) and it works fine. Also it is Very heavy, probably around 30lbs so plan accordingly. GREAT product!

Excellent Charger - Well worth the cost.
I have several fishing buds who use this charger so it was an easy decision to buy. Install took just over an hour start to finish including securing and hiding wiring. Charges both my starting battery and trolling motor battery quickly and efficiently. I'd recommend this charger to anyone !
