JooVuu X: A+ in aethetics, F in use
Like many who've found their way over to the JooVuu X dash/action camera, I'm trying to find the best cam for my needs. Specifically, as a dash cam with impressive low light recording and ease of use. Plus, I want it to be low profile as not to attract too much attention when my vehicle is parked on the street overnight. And like many of you, I was impressed with JooVuu's aesthetics and Youtube reviews. The videos show an impressive range of field of views, from wide to narrow with sparkling clarity. But yeah, mostly it's a sleek looking little device that just tickles my design sense. So upon opening the box two days later (thanks, Amazon Prime!) I was relieved that what I received was exactly as pictured. Now I knew the size of the JooVuu X in relation to other similar dash cams (in truth, I printed out pictures to exact scale of several models to get a feel for them), but once in hand I was doubly impressed. The casing has a matte rubber coat and the buttons are easily accessed and pressed. The included hardware, for the most part, was appreciated though the adhesive window mount was pretty flimsy and second-rate for this price. It's one of those cheapy mass-made plastic balljoint thingies that never quite tightens enough to not swivel once mounted. But I had my own ideas for making a sleeker custom mount anyway so I wasn't too discouraged.Until I plugged the JooVuu X in. Several random lights and beeping noises later, I found myself confused, looking first to the barebones Quick Start Guide for any help, then finally just reading an operation manual I found online to make sense of it all. Unfortunately, I never did.(I should also make note that I purchased the super-capacitor version of the cam, without the battery making it more ideal for use in a car over long, hot periods. But strangely enough, not even 10 minutes into powering it via a nearby USB port, the cam was already very warm to the touch.)Now I'm familiar with these type of cams, having experience with the Mobius, Mobius Mini, Yi 4K Action Cam and Runcam 2 varieties but this JooVuu had me in the dark from the get-go — literally. I never could confirm which mode I was in as I never actually found proof I was even cycling through the 3 modes. When trying to connect the related iPhone app to help set it up, the stock password never worked. I also tried on my iPad with the same result. And thus, I was left at an impasse. I tried resetting the JooVuu X, to no avail. I would have to use it "blind," so to speak and trust that it was doing it's job if I wanted to use it in my car. But I opted not to bother with that installation process. Besides, after giving it one last go using tips I gleamed from the JooVuu forums online about updating the firmware to solve many of the wifi problems users are having, I ended up "bricking" my camera, making it unresponsive to any button pressing. Tried resetting it a second time, but got no where. So it's a return for me. Which is a shame, as I said before, aesthetically this is the one that I really wanted but the easy of usability is just not there yet.Included pics to show size comparisons between JooVuu X, RunCam 2 and Yi 4K Action Cam.

Solid hardware design. HORRIBLE software and setup. Returned it and stuck with my trusty Mobius.
I have since returned this camera. Solid hardware design. HORRIBLE software and setup. Worked in IT for 15 years, tried 4 different microSD cards (2 of which are on the official compatible list) and this thing would RARELY get into WIFI mode, let alone allow the android or PC software connect to it. Tried it via USB on 2 PCs, Wifi on a Android Tablet and also on a Moto X Pure. Not a single device was able to connect nor configure the device. Not even when I connected via wifi and used the factory password. This device was not ready for primetime software wise/setup....

Video quality not as good as Mobius
3 stars. I got this dash came based on a review I watched on YouTube. The video quality seemed to be excellent in the review. And the fact it had Wifi would make this camera a big upgrade from my Mobius. And in many ways it is an upgrade in terms of how easy it is to access the camera and get your footage. If you need to show a police officer the footage of an accident, you can do so with your smart phone. While it is true I have had small issues with the app, it's nothing that is off putting. However this is where we get into a big negative with this camera. The video quality is not as good as my Mobius. Unless cars are really close to you, I would say it is almost impossible to read plate numbers. Even if set to the highest quality and using the best memory cards. I would say the quality is acceptable, barely. The big issue I am seeing is the picture is its full of grain. And that grain get in the way of the details you need. Unless I can actually read plate number at a distance equivalent to my Mobius, I don't think I will be keeping this camera for long. I have tried everything from updating the firmware, to using a 64gb Sandisk Extreme micro-SD card, to trying every single video setting available. Nothing helped.I have posted a frame from my Mobius and a frame from the JooVuu for your consideration. Both were taken at the same speed. Both are at a point I consider "readable" between the two at the same distance. Also both are of a plate number on the back of a trailer. You can clearly see the quality difference. Maybe I will try the Street Guardian next.... Who knows.....

This camera has potential, but it'll require a few firmware updates to get there.
I bought this camera to record remote control plane flights and sadly for now the video quality is somewhat worse than a cheaper mobius at lower resolution. The camera has potential, once the color balance gets fixed, it'll be much better (although the jpeg patterns in sky portions of the picture aren't that great either, but this should hopefully get fixed with a newer firmware). The android app crashes on my 2 android phones with Nougat, but works mostly on my older android phone (good thing I have 3).All in all, it has potential but it's not quite there yet.The firmware nicely bricked my camera twice and required a very complicated procedure to reflash with a windows only tool.Eventually I got an FPV cable that worked, but the lens extension cable I got did not work and destroyed my camera. They now want me to send it back to the UK at my cost and with the hassle of customs paperwork. Sigh... (I bought it in the US)
