AquaRain Model 202 Gravity Water Filter

It's a good filter, but like many others have noted, the metal on the bottom 'tub' eventually splits and becomes unusable. No support from Aquarain. Seek better alternative.

I read a lot of terrible reviews (among lots of good ones) for this filter. Like unfiltered leaking from top resavior into lower, things growing in either resavior, etc. You can read them all yourself. But I feel like it you make sure that the o rings are installed and snugged properly and you're using it daily and you don't live in a house that's swarming with airborne mold spores, then it will work great. I've been using mine non stop for a few months and the only grown I've seen was last week when I had it decommissioned for three days because I was moving. understandably so the filters developed a yellow green film. It rubbed off easily and is once again working full time

So I owned this model for over a week and I have to say it is attractive and doesn't take up too much counter space, it was easy to put together and I followed all instructions to the letter. I also primed the elements and threw away the first 4 to 5 containers full to ensure the elements are fully wetted as per instructions. I fully believe I have done everything I could do to ensure that it is working properly. Now after completing all of that my filtered water still has a metallic like flavor, it is not only unpleasant with a sort of aftertaste but also has given me a belly ache every time I drink it and I've had to go back to buying bottled water. I live on top of a mountain in Western NC and have well water, my reason for buying the filter is because I also live in apple country and happen to be surrounded by orchards, so I realize that possibly the filters where just not able to get the chemicals out of the water. Still I have to recommend caution when purchasing this filter because depending on what you need removed it might not work for you. I'm unsure what to do with my unit now since I really don't want to continue to use it if I feel unwell, possibly try to sell it on a a yard sale page or Craigslist??

I have used this everyday and like the quality of the water. No issues with the device and does what I bought it for.

I liked this so well that I bought 2. One for me and one for my daughter and her family. I have well water that has an iron taste to it, this filter system makes the water much better tasting! My daughters family has city water. The filter takes out the city taste and chemical's so they have healthier water to drink. I also have one that filters 3 gallons of water at a time but it has to sit on the kitchen counter. I would recommend Aqua Rain filters to everyone.

I received my filter about 2 months ago. All was well and the water tasted wonderful. Just this past week the water taste changed drastically I cannot drink the water. There is a horrible after taste and I can smell it in the water. I have followed instructions but it still tastes the same. I am very disappointed with this product and cannot recommend it. The water actually makes me sick when I drink it.

I'm three years into owning this guy and my only regret is that I didn't buy the upgraded version that has four filters instead of two. It's expensive, but it's never needed more than the counter space I gave it to clean up the well water that comes into my house.
