An important investing book that is about more than just investing...
This book finally tells the stories that needed to be told about exceptional investors like Pabrai, Miller, Gayner, Greenblatt, Sleep and and others (some of whom were new to me -- arnold van den berg?). The magic is that the author tells their stories in a succinct and well written way that's super engaging and that ties common themes across these investors. The writing is terrific, casual and compact with the book packing in so much wisdom in under 250 pages - that's impressive. My sense is the book will age very well and will earn its place at the center of every investor's library. In essence, This books is an investors' version of William Thorndike's The Outsiders (another exceptional, seminal book). William Green does a superb job of distilling the personality, intellectual and emotional traits that explain the enduring success of great investors. One of my favorite parts of this book is the "Notes on Sources and Additional Resources" at the back. For most books this is an afterthought, but Green obviously put a lot of effort here: he provides the reader with perhaps one of the best curated recommended reading lists i have ever encountered.Buy the book, and read it.

Informative and interesting
the only reason I am at 4 stars and not 5 (I believe) is that I am on page 181 out of 252 pages. So far it is excellent. Mr. Green's interpretations and summaries after the interviews are insightful. Will likely be a 5 star investment book.

Informative and entertaining
It’s a great idea for a book and very well done. I think it highlights an important aspect of the style and thinking involved in making decisions in areas where the consensus is not necessarily correct. One of the best books I’ve read recently. I really enjoyed it and would love a second and third volume. The author asks really good questions in writing the book and in podcast episodes I’ve heard and the writing is excellent.

Terrific and Powerful Book
I fear that when people first encounter this book that they will mistake it for a book about how to quickly get rich. It's not going to tell you how to do that (although it may give you a sense of how to get rich very slowly). What it does it describe what the author has learned as a journalist from his relationships with select billionaires such as Pabrai, Marks, Van Den Berg, Templeton, Sleep, Gaynor, Town, Eveillard, etc. The result is really profound lessons about the impermanence of life, how "everything passes, everything changes" as Bob Dylan once wrote. Lessons about enduring the harsher parts of life and not feeling sorry for yourself. About how we can best deal with uncertainty.I think most non-investors will enjoy reading this book - even though it is really geared to an audience of investors. It doesn't come from a perspective of greed as so many books about money do, but from one of humility and grace and trying to discover how to be the best we can be in service to others. Munger would say that the best way to enjoy success is to deserve it, and this is a book about the ways to deserve it. Not cheaply gain it.I'd put it up their with The Outsiders, The Joys of Compounding, and The Education of a Value Investor as some of the best books related to investing that I've read.

Best investment book I’ve ever read!
I wished this book was available 30 years ago when I first started investing in my 20’s. There is so much practical advice and investment wisdom offered in this book. It will benefit anyone whether your a novice or experienced investor. I’m certainly RICHER, WISER, and HAPPIER after reading this book. Loved the background stories on each of the money managers. I plan on reading it multiple times to fully absorb the ideas. Thank you Mr. William Green for creating this masterpiece!-Richard Lam (author of BIOGRAFEATS, Life Lessons of Courage, Perseverance, and Triumph)

Required reading for serious investors?
Among the canon of investment books, this is an unusually good read. Wonderful anecdotes and interesting descriptions of the life arcs that have allowed the best investors to thrive. The major investing take-away is that the best investors use similar methods to find value but the more important message of the book speaks to the mindset that allows the best to do their thing. There is a strong survivor bias here since we only here from those that have succeeded but regardless, an excellent read.
